I wouldn't mind Toledo scheduling them. Good name recognition.

Their coach grew up in Buffalo and spent time as an assistant at UB, so UB should be on that list of potential opponents.

Couldn't be Kent State as we can't seem to get a DIA school from OOC to give us a home and home. Our OOC games are big boys on the road for a payday or a DIAA school.

Would be nice if it was NIU.. But then that means we could have a good schedule in the future, and that's just not possible.

We seem to get Sunbelt schools but still you have a point. Didn't we sign a series with Marshal recently.

Didn't Marshall just move to join the Sun Belt? Oh wait, it was the Sun Belt that moved to join Marshall. Never mind.

NIU wouldn't bring in anybody good for an OOC home game. So it must be a different school. I bet it's Toledo.

With Ohio already having home and home deals with Cincinnati and Kansas set for the future, along with the Marshall rivalry, Nevada would really solidify the schedule long into the future.

I don't know about any ties that would make that seem likely though...

Nevada could fit into our schedule in 2014/ 2015. If Toledo can get them at home in 2014 and on the road in 2015.

2014 with Nevada

Missouri (Home)
Cincinnati (Away)
Iowa State (Away)
Nevada (Home)

2015
Miami Fl (Home)
Iowa State (Home)
Nevada (Away)

But it wouldn't fit nicely into Nevada's schedule. They already have 2 home/2 away in both '14 & '15.

Here is a Nevada thread speculating on which MAC team the deal is with. No posts yet with any good knowledge of who it is.. Mixed reception of a home and home with a MAC team. I'm not surprised by that.

It's funny to read some of the MAC bashing posts on their. It's like the Nevada fans think they're a BC$ school and are too good to play a MAC school, when they've only had more than 8 wins 2 times since the 2002 season.

I didn't take it as MAC bashing as much as "what does giving a MAC school a home and home do for our program?" The new Mountain West is easily in a higher tier than the MAC. Along with this news came news they are scheduling a Big 10 team for a home and home... To anyone out west, I would imagine they view the Big 10 as Midwest 1 and the MAC as Midwest 2.

Expanding into the Midwest footprint makes sense for them, but explaining why they need to play the Midwest 2nd tier league on the road and not just bring one in for a home "buy" game is a little more complex. Even if the MAC easily is as good as the bottom or middle tier of the Big 10 any year (it is 04-cheers ) , I'm not surprised or offended that their fans don't realize this... Hopefully this matchup will lead to them watching more midweek MACtion.

Unless there is some past connection off the field, I think the list of MAC teams Nevada would be willing to schedule a home and home with can be narrowed down to 4. Toledo, NIU, Kent and Ohio. A couple of their fans mentioned Buffalo and UMass.. That makes sense too if they feel those are East Coast programs instead of Midwest programs. UMass especially would meet that requirement.

C'mon, midnight needs something to cry about.

Not completely sure why, but if so, I don't see why then need to go any farther than the Big 12. Or go to the nBE if they believe in East Coast bias.

So you knew I commented about you even though I'm on "ignore"?

And does this mean you'll stop sending me all those PM comments? 03-lmfao
