I know Raider fans have designs on winning the tourney, but I have to wonder what their at large chances are if they were to win out and lose in the tourney.

Our only chance, in my opinion, for an at large would be if we lost in the championship game and I'm not even confident we'd get it then; lose in any other round and I don't think we make it.

It would be much better to just get it done in the conference tournament!

I was just curious. I know you've got a strong RPI, that win over Ole Miss is really helping you out.

It was until they lost 4 of the last 5.

This is MT's tourney to win. I think this will be the year they finally do it.

They could have their hands full with UALR today.

Shields' teams are always tough for MT.

They could, but not if they play anything like they did in Jonesboro.

Besides, I like having the distinction of being the only Belt team to beat MTSU.

If we win out until the final, I'd say we're definitely in and with a better seed than whoever beat us in the finals. I'd be shocked if we were kept out at 29-5.

Thats what I was thinking. SBC still gets your NCAA units this year, so I wanted to figure out a way that we could get two teams in, so I didnt necessarilly have to be a MTSU fan in the final.

just a note, with MT's next win, Kermit Davis becomes the Sun Belt’s all-time winningest coach.

It is MTSU's tournament to lose, but it was their tournament to lose last year also and they did just that. I just don't know that it will happen this year. Which teams could possibly beat MTSU though? ASU and USA? Perhaps FIU?

It may not even take us getting to the finals if we win out the regular season. There are a lot of moving parts. We need others conferences to become one bid conferences and our road could get easier. For example Belmont was a team that was on a path that had they not won their tournament they would have been ahead of us for an at large, but they have now dropped a couple of games turning the OVC into a one bid conference regardless of who wins they tourney. Also teams like UK are falling of the bubble. Now if other conferences that have one or two teams worthy of an at large bid can just have those teams win their tourney then the path gets even easier. Upsets and the road gets tougher. If we close out the regular season without losing a game then I like our chances. FWIW today scares me. Long rest after a blow out win and playing a team that just got blown out is recipe for an upset if you ask me.

So essentially this is setting up to be just another SB tourney when one team will finally get of their rear-end all season and will upset MTSU so the Belt is stuck as a 15 or 16 again...

It just seems to perfect to not happen.

ASU opens game against ULM on a 24-3 run, then promptly allows the Warhawks to go on a 24-6 run. Go figure.

ASU absolutely obliterates ULM 87-54. Up a game now on UALR with their game against MTSU still to come tonight.

its looking like MTSU and stAte are gonna be 1 and 2 in the conference tourney. plus if we both make it to the finals and stAte wins we both get in the tourney! that would be a great year. i still feel like though if state doesn't get in the tourney we still have an outside shot at the post season.

While ASU has beaten USA twice this season, ASU is only getting the "#2" seed by being the best in the West. USA has the second best overall record in the conference but will be the #3 seed in the tournament because the league is rewarding each division champ with a top seed. You can't ignore USA! And after our coaching turnover mid-season, and through losing our starting point guard in Freddie Goldstein and losing our second leading scorer and best defender in Xavier Roberson, USA seems to be hitting their stride lately and has POY front-runner Augustine Rubit.

Oh ignore the above... Please overlook USA!

speaking of hitting strides . . . stAte just won 3 conference games by a combined 75 points - and 2 of them were road games.
