Trojans lose baseball opener
Trojans lose to Evansville 2-1 today. Pre-season pitcher of the year Chance Cleveland started for the Trojans, and was the losing pitcher. He gave up hits to the first three hitters. The first batter doubled, the second batter singled and the right fielder missed the cut-off man, allowing the runner to take second. The third hitter singled them home. That was enough. Cleveland settled down and only allowed three more hits in 6 1/3 innings. The Trojans had the bases loaded in the ninth with one out, but couldn't get any of them home. Both teams had seven hits. Biggest crowd I've ever seen for a Trojan game against anyone other than ASU. I'd guess about 300 or so. Looked like Evansville had about twenty or so there. Needed Scotto's expertise to get the exact number.

UALR RALLIED TO WIN THE SERIES , and i was impressed with the crowds all weekend. They had a huge student attendance presence. Pitching looked alot better as well, heading out tomorrow to see them play La Tech at 3pm.

Cleveland pitched well enough to win the game, but our hitters couldn't get the hit when we needed it. It should have been no more than a 1-1 game going into the ninth inning had the right fielder hit the cutoff man in the first inning. The Evansville pitcher was very good that day. That happens sometimes when you get two good pitchers facing one another. Someone has to lose it.
