minnesota, losing 3 fcs games since 2007 and barely winning two other ones in the last six seasons, is all in favor of this. they're likely getting out recruited in their upper midwest region by the local fcs schools.

Well at least this probably means that the Ohio schools will get a few more chances to end OSU's Ohio winning streak, dating back to 1921 Oberlin...

I've heard some people worried that this also means an end to scheduling MAC teams. it is not. The Big Ten won't schedule all BCS teams because it means giving up having 8 home games per year.

Most only 7 home games, maybe 8 once every 4 or 5 years. But there is talk of going to a 9 or 10 game conference schedule for the Little Ten. If they go to 10 games, that means 5 home conference games. Will they then schedule 2 home OOC games to get to 7 homes games (good luck getting other BC$ schools to agree to that), or will they only schedule 1 home OOC game, to make it 6 home games per year?

And that's why they won't go to 10 conference games.

RE: O/T: B1G to cease scheduling FCS football games
Yep, 10 conference games avoids a lot of bad OOC match-ups, but cost the individual schools a home game and, as indicated, a lot of teams who fatten their record with FCS 'automatics' will struggle to get to six wins.

Maybe 16 teams is the magic B1G number and 9 conference games:

Play 7 divisional opponents + 2 (of 8) crossover game so that within a 4-year cycle every B1G team plays ever other B1G team.

I think this will favor the MAC getting more games.

LOL, who's BC playing? The bottom MAC teams. Have they played any of the good MAC teams? I know they haven't played us.

I didn't even realize that it was a BC article. Just wanted to post the quote.

Ya what is up with this comment?
"Hopefully the next A.D. doesn't feel that 2-for-1s with MAC programs is the best way to make recruiting in-roads out in Ohio and Illinois."

Did they play one of our FCS teams?

What crap, they are scheduling Buffalo and Umass and talking smack about the quality of the MAC...

The MAC plain and simple needs to fill its own stadiums, nothing will panic us when that occurs. I feel like that was so easy for NIU to do 15 years ago, now its a struggle as one of the best non-AQ teams in the country. problem=economy+Internet+moreTVgames?

Good ole' Minneapolis sports radio......

"The Michigans won't be able to schedule the Appalachian States, and the Ohio States won't be able to schedule the Bowling Green States......"

They moved on quickly before I could call in with righteous indignation.

Man...the Big Ten is just crying for football notariety with press releases like this.

Conference realignment and BS like this is the only way they can make the front page. Look at Iowa's recruiting class....this conference is in decline big time.
