RE: Ragin Cajun athletic budget sees big increase
Thought the Sun Belt saved NMSU's bacon when they moved from the Big West to the SB so they would have a place to play football.
Several posters have said the same thing in the past. The talk of the SB adding them was stating that it would not help the SB TV contract and posed the question what would. That was directly in reference to whether football could ever support itself without a better SB TV contract. That question was never answered.

That would be true, sort of. If the SBC saved NMSU's bacon, they also saved the bacon of UNT, ASU and UL. They offered to save La Tech's bacon, too, but they prefered to be bailed out by the WAC. It was a mutually beneficial move.

One that they reciprocated by jumping to another conference just as soon as they could.
Read their message board. If they get a SB offer they plan to move as soon as they can again.
They have faith they are getting a CUSA offer soon.

It isn't like they 'betrayed' the SBC. It was understood when they joined the conference that they would leave when a more regional conference was available. The same was true of Idaho and Utah State, also charter members of SBC football.

Well the SB should probably take them for a few weeks then. Idaho too.
Still doesn't answer the question about the TV contract, but know that will not be answered because if it could it would have by now.
Without doing a little thinking outside the box nothing will ever change. But if people are satisfied, why change.

What the SBC needs to do now is add schools and build up the conference.

West - Louisiana, Ark State, Texas State, ULM, and UT Arlington & UALR for sports other than football. So, add for football only NMSU & Idaho.

East - WKU, USA, GA State, Troy and add App State & GA Southern.

We now have 12 teams for football and a championship game and 12 teams for all other sports. NMSU and Idaho are FBS programs. App State and GA Southern are the two winningest programs in FCS. Do this NOW and firm up the conference. Adding FCS schools of their stature is a step above CUSA adding programs like Charlotte and ODU.

Why does every single thread turn into an SBC Expansion thread?

You must think a lot of yourself. Personally I don't think we give a tinkers dang. Certainly not like Eastern Carolina applying thirty something times to the Big East over years and years and years, and even offering them to not take any money for the first few years....man that was exactly an example of what you said.

Mods, is there any way to block the Appalachian State and Ga Southern pimps from derailing every thread on here?

This can only bode well for the Cajuns.

Your program has made vast strides over the last half decade and the future is bright to be sure. The baseball/softball complexes are top notch, but I have been feeling like the facilities for your top 2 revenue sports need a little love.

Any future plans to upgrade Cajun Dome/Field?

Cajundome got a new court this year and within the last 5 years a state of the art HD video and sound system.

Cajun Field, we're still waiting on the final plans that have been promised us since the stAte game in October.

I know the plan is floating around as we speak, so I would guess the reveal will be very soon.

I love it when Louisiana Tech fans talk about the Cajun Dome as some dump when the Thomas Center was built during the same period. The Dome needs come maintenance, but it hardly takes a back seat to the Thomas center. Unlike a number of fans on this board, I've been to Ruston and the Thomas is hardly anything better.

UL's football stadium will add seating in the endzones after spring football at a cost of $16 Mil. Other projects wil be anounced in 3 to 4 weeks.

RE: Ragin Cajun athletic budget sees big increase
Actually, the Cajundome went through some major renovations after hurricane Katrina. This involved repair/upgrade work to bathrooms and other systems following it's use as an evacuation shelter for almost 20,000 folks over a period of 3-4 months. They more recently did some structural work that was deemed needed from the original construction plans, and upgraded the sound system to handle current concert demands, added HD video screens to the central display system, and installed the ribbon type end-zone video like that found in NBA arenas.

The arena's great. What we need is more butt's in the seats on a regular basis, but I guess that comes with consistent winning. I know during our conference run a couple of years ago we wound up boosting our attendance for the year to about 6000 per game. Right now we have half of that at best. Hopefully, or recruiting will help the very young nucleus we have and we'll be a little more consistent which will bring up the attendance.

No one called it a dump, dickweed. And I didn't say that the TAC didn't need upgrades either.

Dickweed? Now it didn't take long to get the real Pappa Neck to come out in true tech blue. Your comment was a typical backhanded Tech fan comment "but I have been feeling like the facilities for your top 2 revenue sports need a little love."

Let me know when you guys break ground on the field house?03-lmfao
