Given that most of the new teams in the nBE have very very tough OOC schedules which arent going to give anyone a perfect season Id say a championship game is pretty important. Worked out well for NIU this year.

If the MW has one you need one.
If CUSA has one you need one.
If the MAC has one you need one.

Does anyone see any of these teams going undefeated in 2014?

2014 Houston @ BYU, UTSA at home (2 open)
2014 SMU @ Baylor, Aggie, TCU, @ UNT
2014 ECU South Carolina, @ Va Tech, UNC
2014 Tulane (dont really know but they wont matter)
2014 Memphis @ UCLA, @ Ole Miss, MTSU, Austin Peay (who you did lose to last year)
2014 UCF @ Mizzou, Open, FIU, Jacksonville
2014 TEmple Navy, Notre Dame, @ MD, @ Penn State
2014 Cinn @ OSU, Toledo, Miami (OH), Open
2014 UCONN - cant find anything
2014 USF NCSU, cant find anything else

Navy has ND every year. They rarely win that.
2014 Tulsa Sooner, @ CSU, 2 Open

That's all well and good. But now is the time to maximize our money (by staying at 10, perhaps) and maximize our poaching potential by allowing a program like ODU or UMASS to build a greater infrastructure.
Tulsa will still be there in a few years. Hold your water.

RE: Q&A with MIKE ARESCO
Look I understand that Temple will never ever ever ever ever ever ever make it to an access bowl so I get your position on getting an extra few 100K is more important that playing in a big boy bowl game.

I also get that as Coog fan youre scared of one after you cooged it @ home in 2011.

I know we aren't in any position of power right now but I would love for the mw to come in and take Tulsa and Utep.

That wouldn't bother me. I think UMASS has the higher ceiling.

But, then again, I'm not even sure I see a need to add any further.

I think that's why he was aloof. We simply don't have consensus for any of these moves yet.

Navy earns 2.5 million off the Army-Navy game alone. If the deal is for 2 million dollars Navy isnt coming, which means we dont need another team. Im assuming thats why he is non-commital on adding anyone.

Round robin, baby. 04-cheers

If we add, lets re-evaluate in a few years after the start ups (UMASS, Charlotte, ODU) have had a few years to mature. Perhaps they'll have impressed by the time we negotiate a new contract. Then we could hypothetically add good teams with good markets and solid fanbases.

Im fine with a round robin. Thats the way the SWC was. It was just fine. The only problem is ties.

. . . oh, please let this happen . . . before the Big East does something stupid and takes Tulsa/UTEP . . . 03-banghead

Tulsa football with Bill Blankenship, will be strong for years to come. Tulsa basketball is on the way back up with Danny Manning. We'll let these Temple fans watch Tulsa break thru this mysterious glass ceiling the next few years. Tulsa will be fine whether we are in CUSA, Big East or MWC.

Aresco is not only arrogant, he makes bad decisions. It would be fitting if he stalls on Tulsa & we go to the MWC. That may be our best move, anyway.

We're gonna dominate this league. I hope Cinncy never leaves so you never win another BE championship.

Have fun with Tuberville. Thats gonna be fun to watch.

RE: Q&A with MIKE ARESCO
I forgot who it was ATX - I just remember it being an FCS school.

Glad to see Fuente got an extension. I wouldnt be surprised to see Memphis make a bowl next year.

You know who coached Fuente in High School?

i dont remember, honestly, but i read in some obscure article that his grandfather had coached fuente...people were all uptight that we were getting such a highly touted qb and were worried about him switching to another school. i was pretty sure he wouldnt because there is some kind of old family relationship...fwiw

scott is the real deal and fuente is a good guy to coach him.

Braden's grandfather Bill Scott who won several state championships at Bristow OK (2A school). He was a very good coach. Braden played for his father in HS.

Justin was coached by Bill Blankenship in HS. He played at OU and transferred to Murrey St when Denver Johnson (OU line coach at the time) took head job there. Denver played at TU and for Tampa Bay Bucs. He is currently TU's o-line coach.

RE: Q&A with MIKE ARESCO
You guys got a great coach in Fuente.

I doubt you keep him long after he turns the ship around but at least you've got the best guy to your program back on track.

You guys do have Fed Ex money so who knows how long you keep him.

RE: Q&A with MIKE ARESCO
You will.

The guy helped TCU win a Rose Bowl. I wouldnt be worried.

Memphis got a lot better as the year progressed.

Hopefully we keep the series going.
