4 Conference games remain
It's gonna be interesting

Wichita --------- 10-4 -----21-5
Indiana State ---- 9-5 -----16-9
Creighton -------- 9-5 ---- 20-6
Northern Iowa --- 8-6 ----- 15-11
Illinois State ----- 7-7 ----- 16-10
Evansville -------- 7-7 ----- 14-12
Bradley ---------- 6-8 ----- 14-12
Missouri State --- 6-8 ------ 8-18
Drake ------------ 5-9 ----- 11-14
Southern Illinois -- 3-11 ---- 10-15

The Shockers may be in first, but have the toughest finish of the top teams by going on the road to Illinois State, who's been on fire lately, Indiana State and Creighton and hosting Evansville. If they manage to win the conference, they deserve it.

The Trees host Wichita State and Drake while traveling to Bradley and Evansville. You have to like their chances at the top spot. And if they beat WSU, it should be theirs.

The Bluejays still have a chance as the travel to Bradley and Evansville and host Southern and Wichita. They really should go undefeated until the end of season matchup with the Shockers. The really do need to win out I think to finish on top.

UNI finishes at Drake, Missouri State and Southern and get to host Illinois State. They're hard to predict with how up and down they've been and they haven't been that good on the road. And ISU at home isn't an easy one. I could see them potentially dropping 3 of 4.

The 'Birds have been on a roll lately and could very well finish in the Top 4. They host Wichita and Missouri State while traveling to Evansville and UNI. They'll be challenged but they've been tearing it up lately after starting 0-6 in conference.

I think those are the Top 5 teams. The Pimps could sneak into the top half, but I wouldn't bet on it.

RE: 4 Conference games remain
I have to disagree with UNI not having been good on the road.

UNI is 3-5 on the road. 3 of those losses were double digit losses to UNLV, WSU, and CU. Not exactly easy places to win and I will concede that UNI did not play well in those games. The other 2 losses are Indiana State (on a questionable call and ISU has only lost 1 game at home this year) and Evansville (in overtime and a team that has only 2 home losses this year and none in Valley play).

UNI has won 6 of 8 games with the losses being the two in Indiana. The only team playing better right now is ISUred. UNI may drop one or two yet, but the schedule sets up very well for them to finish strong. They need help to move up, but holding on to a top 4 is not at all unrealistic.

ISUred is the team to watch as they have put the pieces back together and kudos to Muller for his handling of the rough start, seems to have instilled his brand of discipline at the right time and has them under his control now.

Wichita State controls its destiny but has a tough finale. Creighton is staggering, but still has weapons. ISUblue is an interesting team that is capable good wins and weird losses.

I agree, the Aces can control their fate but, woof, what a finishing foursome...

It may be the spread in those losses that have stuck out. I'm not ruling them out and Not saying they will do poorly, but 3 out of 4 on the road is tough. I have the same concerns for WSU. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out. I never would have guessed that both the Trees and BJs would have lost their last game and left WSU alone in first for the time being. It's a cannibalistic league.

Cannibalistic is true. It's too bad the pundits will look at it as a sign of a weak league rather than a league where there really are no gimmes.

Exactly. It amazes me how much more we seem to get penalized than others.

Funny how KU losing 3 in a row makes the XII a minefield, while our losing 3 in a row confirms that we are a weak conference.

Three remain and WSU still has a one game lead. I have to admit, the fireworks last night in Normal were interesting. Early came up HUGE for the Shox down the stretch.

And then you add in the Kung Fu display and the "altercation" after the game and STL could be interesting if WSU and ISU meet

I hope ISU and WSU don't meet in St Louis. Both sides are a little on the hostile side with each other now and a cooling down period might be in order.

It's unfortunate. However, I think this will remain a good rivalry in the long run. I have a great deal of respect still for the University and the fans and know there have been some poor things said on both of our respective message boards since the game ended. It was a hell of a battle and intense down to the wire. A great crowd and two very good teams made it a fun game to watch. If we do meet in STL, security will be on edge and I hope there's a top notch crew working the game. With that said, I don't think there would be any issues on the court during the game.

Two games remain, in conference, and it's down to Wichita and Creighton. Indiana State's championship dreams were killed last night. Wichita can wrap up at least a share of the title with a victory against Evansville on Senior Night at The Roundhouse. And then that would set up a battle to win it outright in Omaha next Saturday on national TV. The Shox looking to win back to back titles for the first time in 58 years I believe.

I understand Gerry Pollard has been assigned to the game if we meet. 03-banghead

RE: 4 Conference games remain
Pollard last year in one game threw out Jankovich, threw out one of the fans at half time & I forget how many technicals. Pollard wanted to prove in that game that he was the big cheese and has been despised in Normal ever since.

It was rumored that the school president contacted league office and asked that Pollard not do anymore games at RBA for the rest of the season.

The confusion and wrong call Sunday night on who shot the free throws has only embellished the already tarnished reputation Pollard has in these parts.

By the way, congratulations on the win Sunday night. I was there and was the best bball game I've attended in years. It reminded me of those games back in the 80"s with Lamb/Cornley in hand to hand combat with Levingston/Carr. I hated the final outcome but your team hung in there all night and was really tough the last few minutes of the game. WSU deserved the win and earned it.

RE: 4 Conference games remain
Thanks for the kind words. I'm neutral an Pollard as a whole. I will say though that as a HS official, I don't jump on the officials suck wagon as many do and I hear about it from my own fanbase. I understand biases and until you've officiated, you don't fully appreciate what goes on. I know I didn't. They make mistakes and some really do have questionable judgement. And I know WSU has had some issues with Pollard in the past.

As far as the wrong shooter, I wondered about it at the time as well. Seems like there was some confusion as to if it qualified as a personal or a technical. I understand Marshall not being 100% sure and sending Early, but the officials should have known better. It's not like it's an abscure rule in college as it's been a point of emphasis lately.

The 'Birds are still my second favorite team in the Valley regardless of some of the animosity between the fans right now. I hope everyone calms down and we can go back to being respectable towards each other. ISU is about the only fanbase that has ever seemed to get along with WSU and us them.

I'm with SubGod22 on this one as well. Love Illinois State fans, and most of the players they bring in. I am hoping that Mueller contines this tradition.
