RE: Students Petitioning SGA for Vote on Football
Quite simply, they don't have the time. By the time they organize the vote, this is done.

That's the one thing about ETSU that is unique: If one vocal minority doesn't get what they want, they raise hell. They had their chances at the SGA meeting. It was a PUBLIC meeting. They lost. Accept it and move on. You win some, you lose some. They won for 8 years. They lost this one.

And by the way, she currently has 20 signatures. She has 1,300 to go for a 10% amount of the student body. Good luck w/ that.

Plus there is no requirement for any vote at any time. I never got to vote on anything while a student and it is simply not up to a vote by students. It is a done deal. No vote required and none will take place.

RE: Students Petitioning SGA for Vote on Football
Did I read it correctly that even if they get the required number of signatures, this would come up for a vote and the end of the year? Wouldn't the TBR have already voted on football and a fee increase by then?

I feel like there is so much misinformation out there. Do they realize how much they are paying for sports that are invisible to the community? Do they realize last time they voted no, tuition went up anyway?

From the Kennesaw State article that was posted on here earlier they have a vocal minority against it as well. Just a few whiners who want to complain. From what I am hearing, the students on campus are pretty excited about this.

These people clearly do not know what they are talking about, and they continue to bring up the fact that it failed before,so it won't work again according to them. They weren't around in 2003 and weren't exposed to ETSU at all to know that the Dome killed football.(SEC/artsy people attitude.)These people are clueless to everything.

I don't know man. I think if someone circulates that thing through the art department, they could get a few hundred signatures.

I wish someone would demand a vote on the performing arts center. That would be amazing to watch.

We need to stop that from happening somehow. Also we need to tell these art people that they are getting a new center.

What if that actually worked that would be hilarious and make the arts really mad at the world.05-stirthepot

Usaully that is the problem, a vocal minority, most people are in favor but don't speak up.

Someone should start a petition to revoke funding from her graduate program and see how she likes it.

Folks, this is a university with a wide variety of programs on one campus. Having a robust athletics program is part of that, as well as programs for the arts, music, etc. She is doing her part to attack diversity needed by this campus and needs to be called out for that.

Seems to me that football is going to also grow WOMEN'S SPORTS, MUSIC, and a more DIVERSE STUDENT BODY. Why would the opposition crowd be opposed to diversity, unless (1) they are advocating the elimination of everything on campus that does not relate to THEIR majors and the organizations to which THEY belong, or (2) they're just prejudiced.
