I lived in Memphis/Collierville my entire life until college and my goal upon graduation was "do not end up back in Memphis!" I succeed!

That's usually the desire of most kids leaving home.

I see what you're saying but most of my friends from the Nashville area after graduation wanted to stay in Nashville...I think it's clear the reputation Memphis has vs nashville

I'm guessing you missed the Jonesboro game last year?

ASU has also won 4 out of the last 5 against Memphis. I was at the game in Jonesboro this year. Full house and great time. The flyover was awesome.

Wow, nice crowd at Ark State. I for one would love to have them in CUSA.

they should be the next choice....SMwhoo, Whooston, Ark St....easy choice

To each his own. I was raised in Memphis, went to college in Nashville and left for New Orleans. Couldn't wait to get out of Tennessee.

WOO HOO!!

The one game we lost in the series is the ugliest display of football I've ever witnessed in person. If ever there were a game that neither side deserved to win, that was it.

Clearly you missed the game between Mississippi State and Auburn that ended 3-2. I think that officially qualifies as the 'worst football game ever' on so many levels that no other game can ever even be considered again.

I earned an MBA at MTSU and live in the Nashville area and look forward to living in Memphis upon retirement (I hope).

Good, the Blue Raiders are coming in to add some wins... something USM couldn't do for the league last year. Why in the **** are you so butt hurt? Our football record against MTSU is about as good as your all time bball record against Memphis.

...when the in the world are you people going to stop creating thread after thread after thread bashing teams leaving the CUSA. And congrats, you are replacing us with MTSU. They may have won a few more games in the past decade, but I can assure you they do not bring near the value Memphis does to the conference.

You obviously brought a significant level of worth to the b/e. Be proud. Very proud.

Let's see --- an approximate $1m increase in revenue for a 6 year deal. An approximate 5-6 mil buyout after the 500k + tv for (???) years is computed and an approximate 2.5 m buy in. Moving to the b/e is actually gonna COST you money. Go away, you're nothing but chum.

I want to get in before someone mentions how ironic it is that someone uses a team beating up on Memphis football as evidence that a conference is improved. Not that I don't respect MTSU football, but I would use the Ga Tech game to brag if it were me.

to kind of steer this thread towards MT footballs success, here is a highlight video of the BEATDOWN we put on GT this year:

I went in to that game hoping we'd play them closer to than we had the previous two years and build some momentum moving forward and thought maybe, just maybe with a bounce or two we might eek out a win. I could have never imagined us beating them the way we did. I've never walked out of an opposing stadium with my head held higher than I did on that day. We went out to the bars after the games and had Gerogia fans high fiving us for whooping up on Tech. I flew my car flags around the city for like two weeks after that game.

We all know Memphis is an embarrassment in football. Hopefully that changes in the near future.

This is why Memphis will probably never be much of a football power and why I am glad to exchange Memphis for MTSU. MTSU is serious about being a football program with a reputation of solid teams and Memphis is going to short change football for Basketball. Sure it might be decent one day in football on a regular basis, but it is always going to go basketball because that is where it's fan base really is as these post show.

Also I must point out that when Kentucky had Rupp they also had Bryant in football, but seeing that football would always lose out to basketball in head to head competition for money and such, Bryant left Kentucky. I suspect any Memphis football coach will see this as well and will move on for the same reason.

Schools choose which they want the most and Memphis is going to focus basketball over football, just as USM will focus on football over basketball. Sure there are programs that do very well at both, but even with them when it comes down to priority, schools like Memphis will go basketball, USM will go football. Frankly, there is more money in football, but basketball does bring in a good payday.

MTSU has shown they are going to be more competitive in football, but they seem to also strive more for balance and will bring an excellent basketball program although it appears football will probably excel more. USM is trying to be balanced, but football will always be king.

spot on and they don't get it...neither do I.....could be soooo much stronger nationally and take it to that 'other' level...
