RE: WAC football revival?
Maybe some of the Sunbelt fans can help me to understand why you are so against bringing FCS teams into the conference. Surely, you must know that other teams will be leaving soon and you need to replace them in order to survive. Didn't most of the football playing members of the Sunbelt once play FCS or lower football? I can't understand wanting to deny someone else the opportunity that you had.

Most troy fans that I have talked to are against JSU coming in because they say that we don't need a 3rd member from Alabama? Why not? It can only be that you do not want the competition. I thought competition was good. I thought developing rivalries with teams in close proximity was good. It creates more media attention, greater fan interest, and increased attendance. Are those not all things that the Sunbelt could use more of? Help me to understand. Otherwise, I have to conclude that troy is a bunch of fraidy cats and they are your leader. 03-lmfao

We have no issue bringing in FCS teams. We have issues with them pimping themselves constantly to us and I have an issue with Liberty "University".

I understand your issue with Liberty, but many of your fans have been vocal about "no fcs teams". Even Benson was on record at one time of not wanting any fcs teams. Although, he did recognize the error of his ways. As far as pimping themselves constantly to you, what FBS teams are excited about joining the Sunbelt? And don't say NMSU. You know they barely count. 03-lmfao Having FCS teams wanting to join your conference is a good thing. On the FCS level, we have a similar situation with North Alabama wanting to move up from D2 and join the OVC. Unlike troy fans though, all JSU fans and our administration are supportive of UNA moving up and would welcome them to the OVC. If we end up remaining in the OVC, we would enjoy having that rivalry back again.

And it is this type of attitude which is exactly why Liberty will never be D1. Christianity is not a political party. The historical Christ had more in common with those "liberals" than you'd ever be able to admit. But again, keep thinking like you're thinking and wonder why your numbers are shrinking.

A critique of the percieved failings of Christianity and a primer on how the historical Jesus may or may not have acted are not really appropriate topics for a message board devoted to college athletics. There are other much better sites for carrying on those types of discussions.
I personally come to this site to learn about the happenings within the SBC, not to learn the political/religious/sociological leanings and prejudices of the other posters.
Just a thought.

Actually, when fans of current conference members come here and read a couple of these threads, we tend to vomit and leave. We would like to discuss basketball, baseball or even softball, but instead every thread is taken over by FCS fans.

You guys are killing our forum. We still have a conference.. for now. 05-mafia

You're right. My bad. I thought about this immediately after I posted. I got too involved in the original post topic of FCS schools forming a new conference. My preference for JSU would be to join the Sunbelt, but we are going to have to take an FBS spot anyway we can get it.

seems like a simple concept. most of the schools mentioned are small time regional schools with no national standing or fanbase. they seem like good prospects to their local supporters but not so much to anyone out in the rest of the country. It is just a plain fact that every school cant be a member of the " big time" in college sports. I wish it werent so but it is. I would like for my own school to be more of a household name but that aint going to happen. It would take something like a school frequently making the top 25 in the core sports to gain some national rep. the sun belt should focus on beefing up their record against "name" schools and not be so hot to trot about bringing in new members.
