Around an extra mil a year, so you're looking at close to 3.... still not great, but it is what it is. If Aresco can package some other tiers/games and sell them off to ESPN or others, itll be ok

BAM!

Boy you are easily impressed.

Aresco seems to be someone that's always in sales mode (which isn't inherently a bad thing), but you can get egg on your face very easily if the puffery doesn't pan out.

This. First, Aresco said realignment was over. He touted in October that the Big East had 3 undefeated teams in Louisville, Rutgers and Cincy. That Louisville-Cincy was a marquee matchup for the football league. Then Cincy lost to a MAC school, and Louisville and Rutgers bolted for greener pastures before the Louisville-Cincy game.

Then Aresco said he thought realignment was over, and that the Big East deserved a contract bowl.

Shortly thereafter, Notre Dame bolted for the ACC and the Big East was denied a contract bowl and relegated to the Group of 5 competing for 1 BCS bid.

Then Aresco said that the Big East was the strongest of the Group of 5 and would win the bid most years, that realignment was finally over, and that the Big East was still the best basketball conference in America which was very valuable to TV.

Shortly after, Boise bolted for the MWC and the C7 departed.

I mean, every freaking thing he spouted to the media as a Big East strength was soon lost.

Further, there were the knee jerk additions of Tulane and East Carolina which may not have been properly communicated to the C7 schools.

Finally, there was the failure to establish Western Division while BYU twiddled their thumbs. Hell, he couldn't even get Air Force after Navy joined.

I have no confidence in what Aresco says anymore. And I have no confidence in his decision-making. I do think he will get us the best TV deal we can get without a GOR. After that, it would not bother me if we looked in a different direction.

I think he should be fired right now and we should completely start over on a TV deal with completely new leadership. Sign the bridge basketball deal for whatever value and spend the next year trying to find a way to get a better offer from somewhere. It's not like this can realistically get any lower than 2 million a year.

ACtually, I think the C-7 leadership should try to get you a one-year basketball deal with Fox.

We're in this terrible deal for one year, too.

I know you think we should let you do that for some sort of discount on the name and additional split of the credits. At this point the fight for that stuff is a much bigger deal than any of the TV deals since that money is going to float the entire league for the period of time this TV deal runs.

It probably didn't help the Aresco cause to see the CUSA Championship game draw 590K viewers this year. Meet the nBE.

The MAC game N Ill/Kent St drew more than 2x the viewers of the CUSA Championship Game.

Both games were on ESPN2.

Maybe they'll put some good advertising on those and we can attract the bass crowd. Whole new marketing opportunity. Untapped potential. 03-puke

"a rising tide lifts all boats"

With UCONN, Memphis, Temple, and UC, at the forefront, I think basketball will rise with the tide (green waves)..

To what like 3k? The capacities of some of those gyms are a joke.

I thought we had this conversation before. There has been a recent/ongoing arena building/renovation phase that has been in process at SMU, Houston, and Tulane. Given that these universities are located in major cities, they also have bigger venues at their disposal when needed.
Just like at Temple. We play at the Liacouras Center (which is plenty big). However, for the game in which we beat Duke last year, we moved the game to the Wells Fargo Center.

Like the capacity of your football stadium, now that's a joke.
