Eh, give them a break on this one. The guy seems like a real creep and the kids who got f*^&ed over were students.

He pulled the wool over a lot of people's eyes.

RE: Stay Classy Toledo....
This not going away. How much did the AD and admin. know? (who, what, when)? Lawyers are lining up.
Lawsuits. Sick.

That Hadsell had physical relationships with the women in his program was an open secret among Toledo runners throughout his time at the school. One runner knew of a Coastal Carolina student-athlete with whom he'd fathered a child during his time in the athletic department there in the mid-1990s. (Hadsell was in his mid-20s at the time and did not coach the woman.)

According to several members of the Toledo program, Hadsell was in a long-term relationship with one runner in the early 2000s, starting during her freshman year at Toledo. He also dated another runner, her friend, at the same time, though neither one knew Hadsell was seeing the other. He would tell them the same things he would later tell Andrea about Caitlin: The other girl was crazy, obsessed with him, emotionally unstable, he would say, denying everything. Legend has it that Hadsell once climbed out of the latter woman's second-story window to avoid being spotted in her room by a male housemate who had just come home.

When the relationship crumbled between Hadsell and the first runner, he continued with the second, leading to a years-long on-again, off-again relationship that is well known among the Toledo runners we interviewed. The woman was hired by Hadsell as an assistant coach at Toledo after graduation and lived with him for several more years before splitting up for good and leaving for a coaching job at another school.

Who knew what and when? The AD and UT knew nothing. She took the info to HR at UT, athletics was notified immediately and he gave his resignation. UT handled it quick and forcefully! She has no bones with UT. You are grasping at straws I am affraid. This thread should really say, "UT is classy" as the AD and administration takes action immediately.

Yea.. looks to me like this guy turned out to be a creepy predator and UT handled the situation quickly & responsibly.

Not the university's fault the guy preyed on students.

Here is the Toledo Blade story which paints a better picture of what the University did. It also points out that the athlete is All American Emma Kertesz. This was the top program in the MAC for many years, so we shall see what happens.

This creep had a pattern of dating students for years. If the AD knew about his CC coach stories and did nothing then we have a problem. I am sure the school's attorney is asking a lot of questions to staff in the loop before other people start snooping around. If all the people knew nothing, case closed.

NIU75 you are an unknown entity. Mike O'Brian is known as arguably the best and most well known AD in the MAC. He has done a lot of good for all of us in this conference. . I think we will put you aside and go with MOB. This thread should die off.

Not really surprising with all the corruption at UT. I think its a poor way of handling it to give someone who sexually harassed student athletes the option of resigning. He should have been fired.

From what I've read, it sounds like at the meeting where they were going to fire him, Hadsell resigned before UT had the chance to fire him.

All the corruption at UT? are you kidding me? If they fire him he get his pay for full contract plus benefits and pension. He was the MAC coach of the year five times so i believe he had a long term contract. Again can we please trust Mike O'Brian here. Seriously guys holy crap. I am a business owner. I employee some people. This is basic stuff. Sometimes I go on these boards and read this stuff and I wonder if some of the people have a degree let alone a fricken brain when i read these replies. No offense to the smart people here.

Not sure you are aware of this but sexual harrassment is a fireable offense, at least in most businesses.

How do you know they weren't going to fire him. It is possible to put in resignation papers before your employer has the chance to fire you. Happens more often than you think. That's why many places have a question on their application, "Have you resigned a position in lieu of being fired?"

If you're getting fired for disciplinary reasons there's a process. You don't just summarily fire people. You give them a notice about what the violations are and a chance defend themselves. But they always resign first because they know they're caught.

Went through this last week at work. Had someone "stealing time" and tweeting about where they were, what they were doing, and trying to promote a side consulting business. Got caught, got the letter, resigned the night before the meeting on it.

A well run employer has processes. Toledo handled it right.

Since we on topic of Toledo staying classy. Here is a great article about our women's basketball team leading the MAC and only two men's team draw more in Ohio and UT at over 4000 fans per game. And yesterday 5700 for a great cause! I know some like to poke at Toledo, but here is yet another example of UT women being the class of the MAC.
