Who cares? At that payout, nobody will be here by the time it goes into effect.

I think you missed the point of my post. And where's Houston going? MWC TV contact isn't worth anymore and if they did add UH and SMU that money would be split 14 ways not 12. Why would lthe MWC wanna do that? I mean by this low tv contract that you all seem to think is gospel because of one tweet by a guy that works for ESPN. If it really is that low Houston brings nothing to the MWC they won't worth much to the Big East Evidently.

Thats not my point. The point is that the nBE isnt getting two million a year because its present parts are only worth 2 million. Its getting 2 million because the networks apparantly think its just a matter of time before it falls apart. And who told you this 2 million dollar figure is based on a tweet?
Look, we arent going to leave until others do. Its Cinci, UConn, heck maybe even Memphis that might have a much better deal aligning with the C-7. The c-7 WILL pay more than pathetic 2 miilion a year. As for us, the MW would like to get into Texas. I suspect we can handle that job.

I'll say it again I think NBC's offer is for tier one only meaning we still have tier two to sell.

Frank got a PM from McMurphy that indicated the NBC bid was for everything. That said, I tend to agree with you. Its possible that McMurphys source is just wrong. All I can say is that unless everything I have been told for the last couple of months is complete BS, that number is miles from what was expected.

what offer, i thought it was just a tweet from some dude with a bad porstache. i mean come on, sports reporters are generally pathetic. they specialize in one-source stories and their writing skills are generally comparable to a high schooler's. typically their investigative skills are bound by the limits of Google or a convenient text message. you guys are treating this stuff like it is set in concrete.

Not concrete, but I was told its chiseled on a stone tablet near Providence.

When McMurphy said everything did he mean everything has in all sports? Many people were thinking this was a basketball only offer. Everything could mean football and basketball but just first tier. It's rare a league sells ALL RIGHTS to one network. Heck NBC sports only has one Chanel. They wouldn't even have a place to air tier one and tier two games.

McMurphy said it was for football and basketball. Everything. It was basically a match to the existing deal, where ESPN has all the rights. Apparently, the bid process is such that the BE could not solicit bids to slice and dice unless they had no bids to essentially extend the current deal.

McBullshit made **** up, people took it as gospel and now here we are with a dipshit number on the table and folks with their panties in a wad. I don't take it seriously and won't until it comes from a reputable source that doesn't lead back to ESPN.

If this is true, my concern is the increased cost of travel for Temple's Olympic sports. If this deal isn't worth more than $4m/team, I don't see it being financially a wise deal for Temple as we will be the furthest, most isolated school if UConn and Cinci leave.
If expansion causes the ACC to lose a couple of schools, I don't think there is any doubt that UConn and Cinci are gone. I also think Temple, Georgetown, and maybe Memphis would likely be considered (and USF is FSU or Miami leave the ACC). It's all just a matter of time before we all find out.

Ok so IF that's true ESPN gets first refusal right? So even ESPN doesn't wanna match then we would be free to turn NBC down then slice and dice as you put it?

Yea -- but the the olympic sports didn't have to fly to competitions. In the nBE, we would have to. So we may have made 5 cents in the A-10 and MAC, but our expenses were 3 cents. Compared to the nBE where we would make 15 cents and our expenses would be 20 cents.

Perhaps. I'm not certain as to how it goes if ESPN turns down the offer from NBC. Does the BE have to sign with NBC then? I don't know. Does the BE sign with NBC and THEN slice and dice? I don't know that either, but that has been postulated by those in the sports media.
