Carney over not just Penny, but Cedric Henderson?
Cocaine is a helluva drug.
He lists Penny as a shooting guard. I guess he forgot about Billy Smith unless he thought Billy was point guard.

Penny Hardaway and Keith Lee are the top two players of all time. You can't leave out Penny in any top 5. You also can't put in Rodney Carney.

Pretty fair list:
The top at each position:
PG: Elliot Perry
SG: Finch
SF: Rodney Carney
PF:Ronnie Robinson
C: Keith Lee
Missing...
William Bedford should be in there IMO. Kenon and Rose are also missing.

his qualifier is that a player has to play at least two seasons - hence no Kenon or Rose...
FWIW, his top 5 regardless of position are Penny, Lee, Finch, Perry, Robinson - hard to argue against that

As much as I like Dorsey, he wasn't a top 15 Tiger of all time. Not even that close really.

You're right.
Because I've never heard of Larry Finch either...

He was 2nd all-time in blocks and rebounds, almost a 1,000 point scorer, had the highest FG % of any Tiger, and was the starting big man during one of the most successful runs in college basketball history. It depends on what criteria you're looking at, but I would say Joey has a good argument for top 15.

Carney was a great Tiger. However, he is rated WAY to high on this list. This list seems to favor players who played 4 years. I agree with that philosophy to a certain extent, but you aren't putting anyone in front of Penny Hardaway accept maybe Larry Finch or Keith Lee.

Bedford had 1224 points and 675 rebounds in 3 years. He averaged 17.3/8.5 and was an All-American his junior year. The Tigers went 26-7, 31-4 and 28-6 when he played.

How can anyone who covers Tiger sports not know that Penny played small forward?

Well it is by position. Carney at SF wa pretty strong. Leaving Penny off is tough but Finch is also a SG.

Keith Lee wasn't really a center either. They put 3 players at each position so they had a fudge on the positions.

Keith Lee was always listed at power forward. Derrick Phillips and then Willam Bedford played center on the Keith Lee teams.

The writer's last two sentences in the story:
"As for my top five? Forget the order: Finch, Hardaway, Lee, Perry, Robinson."

Bogus without Penny. Carney is a stretch.
Carney a stretch in Top 5 or as SF?
