I thought USC was the first to do that and they did it on Derrick Rose and when other teams say it worked, they did the same.

USC played triangle and 2 with men on both Rose and CDR. Sparty tried some box and one with CDR to the tune of 50-20.

I don't disagree about CDR, I would take him over Carney if I were picking teams.

That being said, from an accolades perspective, Carney's achievements put him among three other Tigers...CDR, Finch, Lee and Penny. Add to that the fact he was the 3rd leading scorer of all time.

Impressive and surprising.

Shouldn't that be jersey retiring material?

CDR should have his jersey hanging. No questions asked.

Yep, but we all know why neither his nor CDR's will be.

Leon Mitchell averaged 30 a game in HS. Just saying.

From the article...........
NOTE: My one qualifier for this ranking is that a player had to have suited up for at least two seasons with the Tigers. The “one-and-dones” were fun to watch, players like Larry Kenon, Dajuan Wagner, Derrick Rose, and Tyreke Evans. But they don’t belong on this list.

04-rock

But Leon couldn't bribe you to talk about how underrated he was as a basketball player.

RE: Memphis Flyer Top 15 Memphis Tigers of All Time
You have to put Penny at Small Forward because that's what he played while he was here.

While CDR was better off the dribble and Carney was better from 3, Ced was better defensively. If you are picking team, who you choose will depend on what your team needs. No doubt is CDR stays a 4th year he passes Carney on the scoring list.

My argument for Ced is that he carried the team some his freshmen year. I can remember Mike DeCourcey article on Ced's play. He noted that while Duece Ford was transferring because he wasn't getting enough shots, when Deuce actually had more play run for him than any other member of the team, Cedric would have more of a legitimate complaint simply because he had proven to be the better player. Cedric accomplished what he did without having plays ran for him. So did Carney. What they did is understated because they were never considered the best players on their teams but they balled.

CDR gets the nod because he was 1st team AA. But the Carney, Henderson debate will forever be a good one to have.
