I want us to get snubbed by the top 25...get our guys mad so they can play with a chip on their shoulder...UCF and Marshall aren't going to roll over and a little extra motivation could really do us good.

I see where you are coming from. Those 07-08 Tigers played great with a chip on their collective shoulders.

No I always want national respect whenever we can get it. If it takes a chip for them to play hard then we won't win anything anyway. When you earn somehting it feels good to get rewarded and our players deserve to feel good and be validated as one of the top 25 teams in the country. Surely they have learned by now that being memphis and being ranked comes with a huge target but they have to know that by now.

I most certainly want to be in the top 25.

If they need to not be in the top 25 to play good basketball, something is very wrong with the team.

I want to be back in the Top 25 for a few reasons......it gives the Tigers a little more respect around the nation, the PLAYERS have earned it and the main thing is the higher we are ranked, the more we move towards a better seed in the tourney.

If we need "not being ranked" to be motivated at this point, it's going to be a VERY SHORT post season for the Tigers!!!

I live in Florida, so I don't get the local coverage. Most newspapers around the country only publish reports on the top 25 teams. The rest are buried in a list of scores. As a result, a team like Memphis gets zero coverage nationally, if they are not in the top 25. Given the weakness of the rest of the conference, the only way to get national recognition is to be in the top 25. That is why the early losses that knock us out of the top 25 are so damaging.

I'm indifferent about it to be honest, only because there is a system at the end of the season where a champion is decided by the players.

I stated (in a previous post) that I preferred us remain unranked since it seems that ranked opponents seem to just lose any kind of poise once reaching a higher ranking and lose against inferior teams anyways.

If we're ranked, that means we're winning. If we're winning, we should get a good seed in the tournament, which makes a world of difference in advancing.
