As we should.

The C7’s gripe was the football schools. So why would they invite a school with a FB program with the intent to place that FB program elsewhere?

Stupid and we SHOULD have turned them down. We’re not that dumb.

The Big East in 2014-15 (as it stands) isn't what I'd call "weak in basketball". UConn, Memphis, Cincinnati, and Temple prevent that ---

But Cincy and UCONN are on the first bus out. Then we will be with Houston, SMU, Tulane, UCF, Tulsa and probably Southern Miss to replace the next defection. It will be a one or two bid basketball league. We should get out now.

Well we're not "weak in basketball" until that bus shows up and when is that? 2015? 2025? --- Until then we're not "weak" in any sport conference-wise and no one knows where realignment and football goes in the meantime. Unless, of course, we all but disregard football and join the C7. Then we know where football goes - and it ain't a positive --

That's a short-sighted, short-term move. FB will be our entre into a big4 or big5 conference eventually. FB will not get us there from anywhere but the BigEast or the Mountain West. If we go to the C-7, it will be the beginning of the end.

If RC had been the one to say, "No," most would have berated him. It's sort of like our seeding status -- when you've seen the same thing over and over, you tend to only expect more of the same, unjustly or not.

On the other hand, Bowen probably missed his big chance for a "By golly" moment of his own. Good thing.

So what. We may get a ticket too.

You can’t catch the bus if you aren’t at the bus stop.

Let them buy the Big East name and resurrect the Metro Conference. Memphis, Tulane, Cincy and Louisville were 4 of the 6 charter members anyway (even though Louisville is leaving).

Wow. Well said. That was 10 times as concise as I was, yet said the same thing.

We hired TB to get our football together so let’s do it. This was the plan wasn’t it? So let’s get-it-done ASAP.

I’m a bball guy but I love FB too. I’m ready for our FB team to be competitive and the C7 offer doesn’t include FB, which drives the true money.

Time to get FB rolling.

While I considered it flattering the C7 would think of us as an option, we're not ever going to reach the "promised land" of collegiate athletics unless we take care of football.

We also had Florida State Virginia Tech Georgia Tech VCU & Southern Miss to round that conference out. I always thought Mizzou was there , but I guess NOT

And do what with football? We already turned down a BB invite to the BE back when they still had everybody, so why would we do it now with just the C7?

Apples & oranges, money-wise. BB $$ is near 2x better now with the C7 vs prior BE, if you believe the reports. But I agree a split conf situation where our FB is aligned with a weak MAC or other alternative is not good long-term even though the overall money might be better now. Wonder what the final C7 $$ deal will be? Just can't understand their attraction once you get past Georgetown, Villanova, St John & maybe Marquette.
