So are there negotiations between the NBE and the C7 for non-conference basketball scheduling? This would seem like a great idea for the television deals. I may have missed that train so don't be mean in answering an honest question.

Well I know for a fact Cincy and UConn both where approached about joining them and both said no. Temple supposedly did as well, although I don't know for sure they did.

Separating your two revenue producing sports into different conferences is generally not very wise. Historically it's not been very successful unless you're Notre Dame, and I'd argue even that has been only marginally successful.

The article that mentioned this is probably a page down (on the board) --- and only mentioned UConn and Cincinnati. But you have to figure that if the C7 offered Memphis than we're also in the mix.

Know what's going to blow everyones mind? When the C7 joins CUSA as basketball only schools.

I've seen he and Melba at the last two home games.

The teams have a real good idea what the dollar amounts are going to be, and they seem to be ok with them. (So much so, that they are willing to take the second best deal just to snub ESPN.)

Says NOTHING about the reported bid for nBE TV contract. Both the reported number and the amount received by the NON original C7 are about the same around $2 mil a year. The C7 schools get a MUCH higher payout from their reported deal. Schools added afterward get a MUCH lower payout. Competing against C7 would most likely results in a lower seed in NCAA due to likely hood of more losses compared to what we have currently or will see in nBE. Nice grasp at straws though. Also there would be NO access to football playoff in C7.

And do what with football? We already turned down a BB invite to the BE back when they still had everybody, so why would we do it now with just the C7?

Apples & oranges, money-wise. BB $$ is near 2x better now with the C7 vs prior BE, if you believe the reports. But I agree a split conf situation where our FB is aligned with a weak MAC or other alternative is not good long-term even though the overall money might be better now. Wonder what the final C7 $$ deal will be? Just can't understand their attraction once you get past Georgetown, Villanova, St John & maybe Marquette.

WRONG those who join after the original C7 only get partial shares. We will have same payout with nBE deal or with joining C7. Around $2 mil a year.

NOPE UCONN and Cinn are CURRENTLY on the schedule of C7 schools and most likely there is an attempt to continue these games as OOC games. NOTHING suggest they have approached the Tigers as OOC opponent.
