Seth Davis ballot
He has Illinois and Indiana St. in over Memphis. Has Memphis "tied at 26" with about 7 other teams.

At least he's considering us, but it is still infuriating.

Anti-Conference USA bias strikes again. Memphis doesn't deserve it because to the media slowleak hacks, C-USA is filled with nothing but terrible teams and Memphis is just beating them up (yes, that is right...the media hacks consider USM to be terrible...why? because they are in C-USA). Meanwhile, Indiana State is worthy because they play in the MVC and according to the media slowleaks, the MVC is a strong mid major conference full of really good teams from top to bottom.

I can't really argue with Illinois.

Obviously, Indiana State's win over Miami is huge. I guess he thinks that makes up for eight losses (four of them really bad).

This is a classic example of big wins helping you more than bad losses hurt you.

He's not suddenly including Indiana State because they beat Miami back on Christmas. He is including Indiana State because they are in the MVC (which is perceived by the media hacks as a really good conference) and they beat Creighton (one of the really good teams in the really good conference) on Wednesday.

RE: Seth Davis ballot
I can understand both IL and In St. Both have killed some giants. Both have some questionable losses, especially In ST. To me, they have too many losses overall to be in ahead of Memphis. But I can see it. I can at least see these two teams ahead of Memphis versus Creighton and Wichita St. Those two never made any sense.

Both have easy schedules ahead of them, so neither should lose for another week or two.

I don't care about either of those teams being in. That moron has UK at 19 and Akron at 21. He's an idiot.

Indiana State is pretty good though. And Illinois just beat the top ranked team and a team that handled Memphis in the Bahamas. That's not bias that's called "smart."

Creighton also is good too. Struggling, but they have McDermott who is a lot of people's choice as POY.

Indiana State has lost to the following this year:

37 UCLA
4 New Mexico (home game)
172 Morehead State
26 San Diego State
44 Creighton
199 S. Illinois
114 Illinois State
151 Drake

But since they beat Miami, they should be ahead of us.

This sport to the voters is a whole bunch of, "What have you done for me lately?"
Then it's a bunch of bias. Take Kansas for example, CBS Top 25 and One has them moving down to 10. After three losses, all to unranked teams, they move down to 10th. That's just how it is. Miami is the hottest team in America right now and that's what the Indiana State supporters all are gonna hang their hat on. You can't talk about them without mentioning that win, and that's what they do.

JMS used to be the voice of reason telling us what we didn't want to hear. Now, he's our best cheerleader against BCS bias. I think there's probably something to it.

Mike Decourcy calling out Seth Davis:

@tsnmike: @SethDavisHoops God help me for asking poll question, but: What's beef with Memphis if you're running Akron, Indiana State (8 Ls) in there?

I'm betting we see Seth's poll get called out in Parrish's poll attacks this week. I've never seen a poll with that much bullsh*t in it.

We should remember that the sports media, with few exceptions, are entertainers. They do not have the inclination or ability for thorough and laborious research and analysis and their insular world subjects them to hermetic Groupthink.
