Of course they will. When a coach PROVES he can win the games that matter, he becomes wanted.

The eyes of Texas are upon him?

he wouldn't take that job.

It's one that I would be concerned about, plus UCLA. The incoming class he has next year may help keep him here.

Surely Texas won't can Rick Barnes after one bad season.

Hard to say. They havent done anything in the tournament since we bashed them in '08. Couple that with failing to make the post season this year, and I would think his seat is smoldering at least. Right now, they are next to last in the conference, and TCU is only one game back. I havent paid much attention to his incoming class, but unless there is real hope that something is going to change, he has got to be feeling the heat. He may need to at least get to the conference championship to quell any uprising.

RE: If you wondered if Josh was intense
I went back and looked at Texas' recent NCAA tournament appearances. Barnes hasn't done much of anything since their Elite 8 appearance in 2008.

2009: #7 seed; Second Round (round of 32)
2010: #8 seed; First Round (round of 64)
2011: #4 seed; Second Round (round of 32)
2012: #11 seed; Second Round (round of 64)
2013: Most likely not going Dancing

Hopefully they only care about football down there. If they also care about men's basketball, Barnes may be gone after the end of this season.

He'll probably be back next year, but who knows after that.

Don't say stuff like that.

I said a couple of years ago that is the one job that worries me if it becomes available.

Big XII and a shat load of money. Lots more exposure because of the conference affiliation. I am starting to get worried that being in the Big East will be no better than being in C-USA as far as TV exposure.

He'd be facing Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State twice a year...all with a good chance of losing.
In the nBE...the only teams 'in our league' that will remain will be Cincy and UConn. The other teams are teams we have beaten up on from CUSA.
He gets high exposure as Memphis' head coach...and once he wins a NCAA game in the dance this season...his recruiting here will shift into overdrive.
I don't think he leaves us for Texas.
Yes they have more money....but he can recruit well here...and win here.
KEEP winning here...and the money will come with it.
No offense to Texas fans...but that would be a lateral move at BEST.
I'd be more worried if UCLA,Kansas, or Duke came calling.

Fellas, CJP won't leave for a football school.

Arizona or UCLA is about 1000 times more likely than Texas.

Exactly...Texas invests more in its football program than basketball...
Football drives their money train.
