So does every player on the football team (outside of the qb).

I don't mean that as a slight to Antonio but he would have fit in great with Dexter, Cook, CJ and Bradley back in the mid to late 70s. None of those guys ever passed it.

I am not going to say I mean it as a slight, but it is what it is. Antonio only passes the ball to other people named Barton.
It is a glaring hole in his game and one of the main reasons he is a bench player and not a starter.

For the record, I love Wilson, and think his ability to drive to the hole is something we definitely need. However, he always looks determined to get a shot up. He's doing it trying to show he deserves more minutes. He's trying to make something happen. I get it, but I know he much better it'd be if he was more willing to pass.

Agreed. Also, he really is a freshman, the more minutes he gets the more mistakes he will make. If he continues in the rotation like he has been lately, he will be much better next season when he does get more minutes with fewer mistakes. He is being brought along like most freshman are and should be.

Usually the shot he gets up is a layup. I don't get what's wrong with that. It's not like he's jacking up fadeaways and contested 3s.

Agreed...

We need that offensive aggressiveness at times.

Yep, resulted in a dunk, and I think it was to DJ.

and 1 if I am not mistaken.

Wait, that was off a pass?

Thought it was off a missed shot.

Two different plays involving Wilson and (I think they were both) DJ.

1. Wilson drives to the hole, misses a layup, DJ cleans it up for a dunk.

2. Wilson drives to the hole, the D collapses on him, and he wrap around passes to (I think it was) DJ for the and 1.

They were both good plays by Wilson created by his ability to get to the basket off he dribble.

Wilson's problem is his defense where he's frequently out of position.

Yup he watches the man with the ball...He is great at help defense because of this, but he sometimes loses his man.

Antonio does pass some, not like a prototypical PG though. He's 3rd on the team in assist to turnover ratio. Not saying he's Mr. Assist, but he does make more meaningful passes than I thought he did.

Antonio wouldn't pass if it was a twelve on one, and the one had both his arms wrapped around his waste.

He's really pretty impressive doing that. He has some hops too. Once he gets it under control I think we are going to be glad Josh recruited DW.

I did notice too, after his wrap around pass, when DJ got the and one, Damien gave a huge fist pump and was fired up even though it wasn't him scoring. It may not be that big of a deal, but I think you can see when some guys are truly team oriented or not.

Plus, when he was recruited he said he always wanted to go to Memphis. How can you not love him?

It's HIS time to shine>>>Will miss Antonio, but kinda glad we now have a BIGGER guard that is still quick and can finish ABOVE the rim...I think our Fastbreaks have been lacking that level of athleticism from the 2 spot.....It will be truly refreshing to see a nice dunk finished off in traffic from time to time with Damien......Let's GO!

Agree. Why would we use a thread that's highlighting how much upside a freshman has to denigrate a veteran's play.

Because people do not understand that you cannot build one man up by tearing another down...

AB is not a great passer but we will miss his 3 point shooting. I think he is around 44 or 45 % on the season. He has also made a couple of big momentum stopping shots for us this year. He is solid player and a tough kid. Damien will fine in time. It is tough to know you are only getting a couple of minutes to prove yourself every game and to not try and exert yourself a little too much. However, as his time has become more consistent on a game to game basis he has begun to settle down. I thought he played very under control against USM. He slashed to the rim twice and made the right decision both times. Over the next couple of years we will be praising his ability to get to the rim and break defenses down.

Time for Damien to step up and fill in Antonio's minutes. We can use him in the rotation now. His driving ability will create more presure on the defenses now that CC, GJ and JJ are hitting the 3's. It's nice to have someone who will actually "go to the hole" from the 3 position.

I hope he gets minutes next year.

Adonis isnt ready for the NBA so unless he is just ready to make some money and is willing to go overseas to do it, he will be back. Then you have Nick King and Kuran Iverson comming in. Plus both of the Crawfords as well as Geron are all able to play the three.

I think he deserves more time, I'd put him in any time Adonis starts playing passively like he has been known to do this year.
