Speaking to trustees Watts says " I love UAB. I'm where I want to be."

I really like the selection of Watts. He legitimately likes UAB.

The conundrum that the board has to deal with is that they want someone they can keep their thumb on, and the disposition to be a major university president isn't really conducive to being somebody's "yes" man.

With this in mind, I cannot figure out why Pinis IV hasn't nominated himself for the job.

Oh I have no doubt, if made UAB president, he would get "accidentally" locked in a Virology test center, that just happened to contain new and exciting mononegaviruses.

Dr. Watts wants to start a new fund raising campaign. Maybe someone should tell him what happens every time UAB gets a fund raiser on the launchpad.

The fundraising campaign has been brewing behind the scenes for a year or so. It's goal is very ambitious, seeking to raise $1 Billion.

Congrats to Mr.Watts. Based on the way the trustee's acted , like they have never been told about anything, and UAB need to better inform them ,and the way they want all to know, they are in charge, it sounds like Mr. Watts is going to be the President whom UAB will get the OCS started under.
Apparently there were some animosity between Ms. Garrison and the Good Ole Boys Club.
Maybe they can work better with Mr. Watts, and we will get a Blazer Staduim

I tweeted at the reporter but haven't gotten a response yet.

With all these news outlets claiming to be on board with 21st century technology, why isn't any of them recording the meeting and streaming it?

The Tuscaloosa crowd prefers the 19th century.

Watts is a great selection for UAB. I think his credentials are tremendous and his undergrad degree from UAB is a huge plus. I think we are in store for unprecedented growth and success with him leading UAB.

A lot of talk about "setting priorities" and when the question about the OCS came up, he said he felt "the board supports us but wants us to be fiscally responsible and plan it out"

Sounds like maybe a stadium is doable, but it's going to have to be eased into instead of showing up in the middle of the night with concrete trucks.
