while we are being honest the only reason that the schools joined the big east was for bcs football money. it was certainly not to play the c7 in basketball.
the c7 have been the one constant throughout the history of a conference that has turned down a billion dollar tv deal, lost every good football school that has ever been a member and now after 30 or so years of existence cant even be sure whether they get to keep the conference name they coined. thats just pitiful.
i think the c7 should be forced to keep the big east name, it is synonymous with mismanagement, poor leadership, duplicity, and a lack of vision.
if history is any indicator in 20 years you will probably be fighting a bunch of sunbelt schools for the whatever name the c7 ends up calling themselves and the c7 will be playing in the naia.
completely pathetic.
Well if we're do pathetic then why were you begging us to get in? Oh and three of you're new conference mates played a big part in all of that as well as 6 other teams who left. You left out over half the conference in that rant.

For the C-USA schools, that's $500,000 to leave CUSA plus $2.5M to join the Big East, so $3M x 7= $21M.
I'm not sure if Tulane or ECU can claim the same type of damages, since prior to them actually withdrawing from C-USA the C7 began rumblings of leaving (unless they withdrew immediately, which I don't know if they did or not).

They signed their Big East entry contracts before we left, so I'm assuming they had the standard entry fee, and the same $5M or even $10M "TCU clause" if they don't join the Big East. Just like the others, they can say they signed a contract to pay $2.5M to join "the Big East", and committed to spend another $500,000 to make that happen.
IF they go back to C-USA instead, a) that's not always that easy, as their spots are filled and b) now they owe the Aresco League their "TCU clause" money.
It could also be that a judge would rule that their $3M bought more than just the Big East name--they're getting a share of the NCAA credits and exit fees. So it could be a three-way deal where the noob schools get their entry fees voided and UConn, USF, and UC get $5M each.
But the only "damages" that I think a court would look at would be the exit and entry fees. The value of the TV contract was always a moving target, and the expectation was that the C-7 weren't crucial to that value.
