I was a little bit surprised that I didn't see Brandon Spears' name listed under Mortimer Jordan.

The guy was a man-child this year on the lines.

RE: OT: Signees from Alabama High Schools
From the cited North jefferson NEWS report from the Alabama Sports Writers Assoc. list of all state signees by Josh been of the Mobile press-Register -
406 total state signees
38 signed by BCS schools (7 by AU and 8 by UA and 14 by other SEC schools and 9 by other BCS schools)
368 by all other levels of schools (several schools are new to me) from D1 down.

Is this a "typical year" for state signees or is it higher or lower than past years? As those who have read my thoughts before know, i am not at all convinced that the last decade or so of static or declining funding of the state's public education system will not eventually affect the quality of sport's product the schools can turn out. Some seem to believe that no matter how much the state's schools are cut in per pupil funding, athletics will go on as though nothing has changed for the rest of the school's programs. I am not convinced that a state can cut almost $1400 per pupil since 2008 from an already low amount and not have it affect athletics just as it does academics.

Keep in mind that number will increase. A lot of FCS and D-2 schools will sign kids all the way up to the end of the signing period in April.

Maybe he should send a tape to coach McGee before the Stache fills the remaining spots.

I'm not sure how he stands academically, but he also is on the basketball team.

His football opportunities are a lot better than basketball.

He is #70 in the video.

Let me ask one of my co-workers who announces their games if he has heard anything.

I would be thrilled if he earned at least a walk-on opportunity if that is what he wanted.
