Yeah, Nobel prizes have proven to be meritless and should be ignored. Need an example?

So...Krugman is a total loon and always wrong...until he says something you like and agree with...then he's the smartest guy in the world?

That about how it works?

Who said he was the smartest guy in the world, or that they liked what he said? The thread is just to point out a rare moment of honesty from Mr. Intergalactic Stimulus Wars.

He was at least right that he was wrong then in your opinion.

Dr. Ben Carson had better hope he does not come before a death panel after his speech in front of the Czar yesterday.
National Prayer Breakfast wasn't so happy for our fearless leader.

Krugman is a loon. His perfect world would have everyone at an 80% tax rate and government spending would be three times what it is now. No exaggeration.

That would suck.

Wow. UConn-SMU calling someone else a loon. Good one. 03-lmfao

What would suck is to live in a country that YOU envision.

In my perfect world:

1) We'd have a 10% flat tax that everyone would pay.
2) There would be a balanced budget amendment.

That is sanity.

RE: Krugman: we'll need death panels
Now Krugman is advocating kicking the can down the road (in those exact words).

Quote: Realistically, we’re not going to resolve our long-run fiscal issues any time soon, which is O.K. — not ideal, but nothing terrible will happen if we don’t fix everything this year. Meanwhile, we face the imminent threat of severe economic damage from short-term spending cuts.

So we should avoid that damage by kicking the can down the road. It’s the responsible thing to do.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/08/opinio...=auto&_r=0

In other words, more of the same that has already failed repeatedly, and setting ourselves up for complete collapse later is more "responsible" than feeling a little short term pain. He even uses the CBO 10 year projections to make his argument, even though the 2003 CBO 10 year projections predicted we'd have a $5.6 trillion SURPLUS from 2003-2012. 03-lmfao

The problem with that kind of thinking is that "eventually" never gets here.

For the record... it's not a death panel that sounds too negative, it's a "choices panel" and the choices are who gets to live and who dies. 04-jawdrop

No. THat is insanity. You would NEVER pay off the debt AND pay for the limited government you envision.

Robert, what tax rate do you think YOU should pay in taxes?

I have no opinion as to what the rate should be but it should be enough to cover paying off the debt and government expenses. That 10% won't do it.

Robert, you don't have an opinion on how much money you should be able to keep from your labor, or how much you might need to live on, and so on? How about we start with 75% tax rate on YOU, does that work? Ponder it for a while and let me know if your rate is too high.
