Three?

I count two.

I did some, not much, checking and he might actually be a transfer from a D-II school.

As I understand it, if he participated in August drill last year he would be a transfer sitout regardless if he played any games or not or redshirted.

Hm looks like you guys may be correct and Rance is a 2013 player, lots of unanswered questions like Qua Barnes as well. We'll perhaps know better after August 1.

Agree.

I just hope that Rance did not do any practices at Lincoln.

That would have two consequences:

1). He would have to use last year as a redshirt year,

2). His 5-year NCAA eligibility window would have started and he would have 3 years left come Sept 2014 (the 2014, 15 and 16 seasons).

#2 means if he gets injured and missed a season he could not medical redshirt (he would have already used his redshirt year last year sitting out at Lincoln).

Players like him need some very good advice when walking on or whatever... Kid walks on, starts practice and decides hey I'm not getting financial aid (scholarship) or I'm not at the right level, I want to go elsewhere... They could sit for TWO seasons. That's tough.

RE: 2014 FB Recruiting?
This is off topic but I didn't want to start a whole new thread for this comment, apologies for the derail.

I was leaving campus today at the same time as some of our easily recognizable 2013 recruits. They were behind me coming out of the lot as I paid and then scooted out with me before the arm came down in order to avoid paying themselves. Personally, I don't care and I've done that a time or two myself in years past. The problem is that instead of me they could have easily been behind someone that doesn't like the football program or someone that just enjoys trying to knock some athletes down a peg or two.

I think it's easy to forget sometimes that these guys are really just kids and I don't think any of us can say we didn't do dumb things at that age. I just wish they'd realize how visible they are and that minor things like this can lead to big problems down the road.

Dear 11bravo,
I would agree with your last paragraph as to how I would feel about something like that. You're completely right about someone that doesn't like athletics, and what they might do in a situation you described.

Here is a Freep article on the opening games of the 2013 h.s. season at Wayne State's Adams Field.

Cass Tech is playing on Friday evening for those who might be interested in watching our recruit.

(some of these games were originally scheduled for Ford Field).
