Ok here's the deal!! There are a collection of miner fans that are starting to grow displeased with the job coach Tim Floyd has done with the miners and I wanted to know what others that aren't miner fans think to get a truly unbiased opinion

This is what I claim

Floyd's first year he was hired he only had a few weeks maybe a month left to recruit so he brought in a few people and only one worked out and that is Jon bohannon

Then next season Floyd tAkes uteps senior heavy team without its two biggest contributors (Derek caracter, and arnett moultrie ) and they lose by blowing a huge lead at home to Memphis and make the nit

Floyd goes out and has to recruit at least 8 new players since barbee put all his stock into one season and Floyd basically had to replace the whole team so he goes and has to recruit quantity over quality


Then he has last season in which he led utep to a 15-17 record with a bunch of freshman ( again quantity over quality)

Then Floyd has an ok recruiting class this year with a new Washburn, Moore ,Howard and the team is sitting at I believe 12-8 with one of the hardest if not the hardest schedule outside of confernce play

Then Floyd has recruited a stellar class for next year that has been called a too 20 with Isaac Hamilton and Vincent hunter coming in



With all that going on up their, there are a few who are starting to lose their patience and have said Floyd should be a lot further along in year 3 than he is my question to you is are they right? Now I am sure some of you flat out hate Floyd the man but I am asking about Floyd the coach so fire away please

They looked pretty good to me in Birmingham last week - Floyd didn't miss any of those FTs for them.

I say give him another year or two. For whatever reason, everywhere he's gone, he has that perception of having to win players and fans over, more times in areas where patience is not a virtue, but you bring up an interesting observation, players seem to try to play hard for him. Is he a polarizing figure to the fan base? But I think at UTEP, Floyd is worth the gamble for at least one more season before "releasing the hounds..."

Question, please, about the Washburn Brothers. Is their Father by chance, Chris Washburn?

I'd wait until the end of the season to have this discussion. I did expect a bit more... but not too much more.

I've never understood Tim Floyd hatred. Compare what he did in his one year with the Hornets to what Byron Scott did the next year. It was seriously a 20-30 win drop-off and Scott only got away with it because he painted the season as a "rebuilding year" from day one.

I think a lot of the negativity around Floyd relates to some crap Michael Jordan said when Phil Jackson left the Bulls. But if you're listening to anything Jordan says, you're an idiot. He is perhaps the most overrated human being on the face of the planet.

I for one love what Tim Floyd has done and the direction he has the team headed, it's just frustrating me that some miner fans have called him a letdown or disappointment when he is just getting started

I think he's looked at through different lenses because he's an El Paso guy. Personally, I don't see why any miner fan would be over the top about the guy, yet. That could change though.

There is little to none when it comes to negativity regarding Coach Floyd in El Paso. There are a few local trolls who would argue the sky is green just to have something to argue about. From day one, Coach has said he is taking the slow and long term approach to rebuilding the program. He isn't on the chopping block. Not even close. In 2013, with the Internet and social media, anyone can push their agenda. By far and large, El Paso, is very happy with the job Coach Floyd is doing.

Many fans will complain, but to call for his head... Like Binks said... It aint going to happen! I think a lot expected Floyd to come in and work magic... takes time.

I think you've got a great coach.

I saw a well coached team at Bartow. Yeah, we scratched out a come from behind win, but the fundamentals were solid and you have talent.

If you run him off at this point you've got rocks in your head.

Quit listening to the fitbuds, music222s, and chunks. Those guys are trolls who almost never have anything positive. The rest of us know that we'll be fine and you have to wait for the good stuff. Floyd is building a program from the ground up with freshmen and he knows what he's doing.

There is an ignore option on most forums. You might try it. I do.

Maybe Minerduck is FitBud. Maybe.

I've never understood how that works. I just don't see how you can just arbitrarily filter one user out from a conversation. What if you ignore me, but one of your little non-ignored buddies responds to what I wrote? Is that filtered out as well? If not, isn't the whole experience very disjointed, like listening to one half of a phone conversation?

And really, I don't see the point. You're not qualified to determine whether I know what I'm talking about or not. If you ignore me, it's purely because you just don't like what I'm saying. But if you want (for example) an unadulterated pro-UTEP viewpoint, why come here? There are plenty of adulatory books and even movies about our programs.

I don't know where you are coming from...or maybe I do. First, Jon Bo is the last Barbee recruit. Second, I just don't see or hear on how you are coming to this conclusion. The Miner fans at the Haskins arena and around town are really excited what it happening with the program.

Haters follow Tim like groupies follow a band. It was like that with the Bulls, and with the Hornets. There's no rhyme or reason to it.
