ODU coach Taylor fired
In case someone hasn't read this elsewhere-

Not a huge surprise with the season they're having and the recent allegations of conducting a drunk coaches show etc. Coach Taylor, the winningest coach in Ole Dirty's MBB program is to be let go.

Press conference today at 3. Mixed bag on the various ODU boards it seems. Most have realized this was coming anyway.

I hope we steer clear of him this offseason. I'm afraid we'll give him serious consideration though...

haha. yep, cheers. Needless to say, I'm happy we got our 2 W's and the sweep in the last match up we'll have with those putz's for the foreseeable future. Cheers indeed!

Must say, for anyone that hasn't looked the "Flagship, in pictures" on the Zone Gen board is pretty damn funny.

Totally off-topic here guys but I didn't want to start a thread about something so trivial.

First observation: JMU's forum is the only CAA forum that's personalized. You figure that's because no other fanbase posts here?

Secondly, I wonder if we--the posters on CAAzone--should make a planned move to come here and abandon CAAzone. Have you Dukes types talked about that yet?

GTS started to personalize this page because a handful of us started posting here. We are the only remaining CAA team that comes here that I've seen, yeah.
In order to get most JMU fans to come here, there will have to be next to no one posting on the zone anymore. Many will refuse until they are forced to.

Personally I prefer it to the Zone. If a fanbase starts showing up the admin takes notice and will fancy it up.

Indeed, this is a much better forum than the Zone. But as 09 has stated, many have gotten use to the zone and therefore, breaking them over the habit is quite hard. Slowly, I think you will see a migration and if we do go FBS, the migration will be complete in my opinion. Tribal if you want to get a personalized page, start posting and get others to post as well. If it is active, they will personalize your site.

My only contention with cnsbbs so far is it seems to be heavily moderated. I know someone tried it at least once but I cannot for the life of me understand why JMU doesn't have its own messageboard (like UD, GA State, SBU, the real GSU, ODU, VCU, etc).

for the reason's we previously stated, no one is willing to leave the caazone. we actually did start a site about 3-4 years ago called jmusports.net. the guy who started it eventually took it down because no more than 10 people posted on it.
some people point blank said, "i'm not leaving the zone until no one posts here". when they all think that, no one leaves.

I'll take heavily moderated over unmoderated. I tried for about a month to get any moderator at caazone to allow me to post after I signed up but my half a dozen or so requests for help went answered. 03-zzz

Plus there seemed to be animosity over there. 03-hissyfit

So I'm just gonna hang my hat here. 04-cheers

Well, actually the "Zone" did start out as a JMU board. the old rivals site I think, by Duke Dawg. It was then integrated into CAAZone when the GMU guys started that and it involved the entire conference. Now, it's been hit by the schools leaving and taking some of the larger fanbases with them. Plus a lot of the conversation has gotten pretty stale and for a while there the entire the place was simply a trollfest mess.

Even the JMU board, historically pretty respectful and conversation oriented became an unbearable boorfest. "If you can't take it that's not my fault you got your panties in a bunch" tough guy acts got real tiresome, real fast. A lot of the redundant repetitiveness is still tiresome over and over and over....

It is heavily moderated in areas BECAUSE I give a great amount of leeway to how individual teams want to moderate their boards. Just because everybody is under one roof doesn't make this somehow inferior (especially compared to some god awful phpbb or proboards). And just because everybody is under one roof doesn't mean I cram down a one size fits all solution on everybody. Some teams want or even demand heavy handed moderation. Some want little to no moderation. This is why I elect mods from the fans of those teams instead of appointing them. The site is setup similar to the United States federalist system as originally laid out under the Constitution: There is a minimal but necessary set of federal (site-wide) rules, and then states (conference/team boards) get leeway into running things how they deem the most fit.

There are bonuses that come from pooling together as well. To name a few:
- Pooled overhead (hosting, etc) means bigger and better solutions at lower prices. Economies of scale.
- Pooled revenue.
--- Eventually becomes feasible to get a blanket CLC license to use all the official collegiate trademarks.
--- Enough people to have a good team of lawyers on Skunkworks. You'd be shocked how often big boards get legal trolls for some bizarre sh*t that got posted 3 years ago.
--- Enough that this is my full time job. Granted I'm currently paid pretty sh*tty, but that's improving. But this means I can sink a TREMENDOUS amount of time that you otherwise couldn't into improvements.
--- There is even more that benefits specifically team boards but I won't talk about that unless you sign a NDA and non-compete agreement.

It's a superior solution. Don't hate... embrace.

There was an update recently to adblock plus (in chrome at least) that kinda messed up the domain whitelisting process. I had to manually readd a few sites, including here, about a week ago.
