2013 USA Heisman List, No Lynch
Some of the article below. I hope this fuels Jordan and get us going.....

In all, Bovada lists 23 players – 14 quarterbacks, six running backs, two wide receivers and one ridiculously talented defensive end – with odds ranging from Manziel's 4-1 to 40-1.

Every returning player who finished in the top 10 of last year's Heisman voting made the cut, minus one glaring exception: Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch. Obviously, Bovada believes that Lynch's below-average showing in January's Orange Bowl loss to Florida State will hamper his Heisman hopes in 2013.

Here's Bovada's full list:

Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel: 4-1
Ohio State QB Braxton Miller: 7-1
USC WR Marquis Lee: 9-1
Georgia QB Aaron Murray: 10-1
Oregon RB De'Anthony Thomas: 10-1
Alabama QB A.J. McCarron: 12-1
Miami (Fla.) RB Duke Johnson: 12-1
South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney: 12-1
Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater: 12-1
Clemson QB Tajh Boyd: 15-1
Nebraska QB Taylor Martinez: 15-1
Nebraska RB Ameer Abdullah: 18-1
Oregon QB Marcus Mariota: 18-1
Alabama RB T.J. Yeldon: 18-1
UCLA QB Brett Hundley: 20-1
Baylor RB Lache Seastrunk: 20-1
Notre Dame QB Everett Golson: 22-1
Miami (Fla.) QB Stephen Morris: 25-1
Oklahoma QB Blake Bell: 30-1
Florida QB Jeff Driskel: 30-1
Arizona RB Ka'Deem Carey: 33-1
Michigan QB Devin Gardner: 40-1
Maryland WR Stefon Diggs: 40-1

I'm sure that his performance in the Orange Bowl had a lot to do with it...

I would definitely rank Lynch above at least half of that list. But the list is top heavy with some quality athletes. Jordan will have to pull off a minor miracle to hang with those guys at the top. Here's hoping he puts on a show (except for when the Broncos are in Dekalb 05-mafia).

I laughed when I saw those two names and automatically made the article not reputable in my mind.

Add me as another Rocket backer that also feels he should be a part of the list. As we all know though here in MACnation nobody gets any credit for anything. I would also agree that his OB performance probably did not help but I am sure there are a lot of players on that list who did not have Heisman worthy final games to end last year. Hope he has a great year minus his trip to Toledo.

Kinda odd somebody would leave him off because of the FSU game. What does that have to do with next year? Nobody has ever won or lost the Heisman based off a game from the year before.

RE: 2013 USA Heisman List, No Lynch
IMO, someone from a Mid-Major would have to DOMINATE each and every game on the schedule. Lynch didn't really light it up against Iowa (I understand it was his first start), but that is probably what hurt his chances the most last year. With that being said, he does have a realistic chance of doing that this year and should be on list.

RE: 2013 USA Heisman List, No Lynch
USA Today knows whats up...

http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/201...t/1762777/

Quote:1. QB Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M (sophomore)

What does Johnny Football do for an encore? How does Manziel improve upon a banner debut? It won't be easy, but consider why Manziel will be even better in 2013: a better supporting cast of playmakers, another year of experience, another year in A&M's offense and another year of experience in the Southeastern Conference.

2. QB Braxton Miller, Ohio State (junior)

Miller was perfect for Urban Meyer's offense, as most expected. What most didn't expect was such improvement from Miller as a passer, and that points towards even greater progression during his second full season as the Buckeyes' starter. Ohio State also will enter 2013 with a high ranking, which helps.

3. QB Jordan Lynch, Northern Illinois (senior)

While coach Dave Doeren is gone, NIU won't miss a beat in the transition to former offensive line coach and offensive coordinator Rod Carey. The Huskies bring back a tremendous amount of talent in 2013, beginning with Lynch. You could say Lynch could help his 2013 campaign tremendously with a strong game against Florida State in this year's Orange Bowl.

Go 4-0 in non-conf and he will get more pub. Can't lose to Iowa and expect to be heismen trophy caliber in 2013.

There should be a BCS bias though. A non-BCS player hasn't won the award since 1990 when Ty Detmer won it. In my opinion it'll be damn near impossible for a non-BCS player to ever win it again.

Agreed, I'd even go out on a limb and suspect that a hot enough non-BCS candidate would transfer to a BCS school if he thought he was a shoe-in.

It's not like they can run out of room on the internet and can't throw a couple non-BCS contenders on the list because of space considerations.........

I agree. That being said, all of those guys listed probably have a more realistic chance at winning the award than Lynch. The voters wouldn't let a player from the MAC win unless they went 13-0 and the player broke every positional record possible.

So that list is who he thinks will win (or be in contention) rather than who he thinks should win or be in contention. It just adds to the bias that's there already.
