Question for old school Belmont fans
Does anyone remember a player by the name of Dale Melton ? He played both basketball and baseball for Belmont.

He was a good friend of mine. We went to the same high school and church.

He passed away a few years back. Was one heckuva good athlete.

What years did he play? I went back to school in 2000 and started following Belmont then.

I was a freshman in 1984. That name is familiar. I honestly don't know, though, if it's from seeing him play or from hearing his name in conversation.

The name sounded familiar to me too, but I couldn't place it (I started going to games in the middle of the 91-92 season) - so, I looked in the program at the all-time roster - Dale Melton is listed as playing 1989-1991.

He graduated HS in 1986 (Murfreesboro Oakland). I believe he scored 40 in a high school game once.

He had an an abscessed tooth and did not take care of it. It led to his death at a young age in 2005. Sad, very sad.

I believe he had been working as a police officer in Lebanon at the time.

That's tough. My dad had an abscessed tooth and caught it just in time. The Dr. said that if he let his go, he could have died. It was hard to believe, but I guess it happens.
