Toledo and the MAC get screwed in the rankings again.
Looks like you need to send email to the voters.
Borderline rankings suck. As an NIU FB fan it is something we are use to.
Win your next three games and someone start an email Campaign.

24-2 and ranked 27th in the country!!!! AWESOME ladies. now just win out and the rest is out of UT hands. Six teams ahead of us with 6 or more losses hmmmmm. Purdue sitll ranked with 7 losses and one of them to Indiana hmmmmmmmmmmmm. OK ST with 7 losses and 7 conference losses hmmmm. I am proud as heck of our ladies and nothing can shake my pride at this point even pollsters.

This is the same perverse mentality that pervades the NCAA selection committee as well, which is why the Lady Rockets need to win the MAC tourney.

And you are right----they can only control is what they have the ability to control which they have successfully done 24 out of 26 opportunities---which isn't too shabby.

RE: womens bball polls
This team deserves to be ranked. If Dayton Ohio is ranked 14nth after losing to BGSU, them Toledo should be ranked in the top 25.
This is prejudice against the MAC.
Feel proud of the team but actively campaign for them. If this team gets the National recognition it so richly deserves like NIU FB team did last year, then student applications will increase greatly.
Why is Toledo marketing and the AD not using this success to advertise the University throughout the Midwest and Nationally?

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse every week. But man we are getting screwed. Its like the women voters think their actions go unnoticed so they just leave the aq teams in their polls. Cuse loses to an unranked and only dropes one spot. Fsu loses twice. Including a loss to a team with a losing record only drops 5. Purdue loses to indiana for crying out loud and only drops 3 spots! Not only do these teams have more loses but way worse loses than us

MAC teams typically get treated unfairly in the polls.
I agree with you.
Go out and contact your University Marketing and AD department.
Publish the names of pollsters on this BOT and get Toledo and other MAC schools to email the voters.
When one MAC school gets National attention, the rest of the MAC benefits.

It hasn't been the best schedule to get notice. I think the team had some early season kinks to work out so the schedule has worked great to get them all working their best but it's not helped much in the polls.

Might have to get a BIG upset in the first round before recognition comes.

Scheduling is difficult because nobody wants to play UT, especially at UT. The Little/Big Ten wants nothing to do with the MAC because there's a real good chance they will lose to us. Gotta keep scheduling the Daytons, Cincys, etc.

I know that others have said the same thing, but I don't get it. All teams are in the same boat. They are judged by RPI, which relies heavily on strength of schedule. Therefore, all teams benefit by playing other good teams. Certainly other good mid-majors need us as much as we need them. Other good MAC teams, most notably Central Michigan, have managed to play a tough schedule. Last year's schedule was much better than this year's.

Three more games to improve rankings. Unlikely that a 27nth ranked team ends up ranked 11nth.

Doesn't matter. They'll probably move up, and we'll probably move down. :muttering:

It will probably help Oklahoma State more than anything else.

I hate for my first post here to be self-promotional but I occasionally write about Toledo women's basketball for Hustle Belt, an SB Nation blog that covers the MAC, and I broke down Toledo's strength of schedule (prior to tonight's Western game) for my post this week and the numbers are just not pretty: http://www.hustlebelt.com/2013/2/27/4035...at-respect

I think best case scenario if Toledo wins out these last two regular season games is a 25th or 26th finish in the AP Poll. The loss to Central at home really hurt their chances at national recognition this season once you look at how terrible the rest of the MAC and Toledo's non-conference opponents ended up being. Ball State's win over CMU tonight isn't going to help matters any.

Again, as a first time poster, apologies for the shameless Hustle Belt plug but I thought some of you would find the numbers breakdown interesting.

I think that your analysis is pretty much on the mark but two things you did not point out are:

1) three teams on the UT schedule this season that have had respectable records in the past are all down this year---I refer to Milwaukee, Marquette and St. Bonaventure ....and,

2) With the country's 20th best record for home attendance so far this year, why would the Lady Rockets give up home games for road games against "big conference teams" who have poorer attendance records?

Because, it would improve their strength of schedule and their RPI, in case they don't win the MAC Tournament, it would have given them a better chance of getting into the NCAA's as an at large.
