All MAC...1/2 way
All MAC East:

1st Team:
DJ Cooper - Ohio - Guard
Javon McCrea - Buffalo - Forward
Chris Evans - Kent St - Forward
Zeke Marshall - Akron - Center
Jordan Crawford - BGSU - Guard

2nd Team:
A'uston Calhoun - BGSU - Forward
Randal Holt - Kent St - Guard
Allen Roberts - Miami - Guard
Alex Abreu - Akron - Guard
Demetrius Treadwell - Akron - Forward

All MAC West:

1st Team:
Shayne Whittington - WMU - Center
Rian Pearson - Toledo - Forward
Kyle Randall - CMU - Guard
Julius Brown - Toledo - Guard
Majok Majok - Ball St - Forward/Center

2nd Team:
Jauwan Scaife - Ball St - Guard
Derek Thompson - EMU - Guard
Darius Paul - WMU - Forward
Jesse Berry - Ball St - Guard
Abdel Nader - NIU - Forward

*Not a whole lot of surprises. I thought Offutt from Ohio would play well enough to make this list....but frankly there have been other guards in the East with better numbers. Good news is that my list is far from official.

*Jordan Crawford at BGSU is playing really well. We are going to have our hands full when we visit BGSU.

*3 Ball St guys. I wanted to fit David Brown in there, but his numbers weren't better than Scaife or Berry. It's one of those cases where the sum of WMU's parts is greater than individual efforts of others. If he keeps up the pace, Brown will be in a dog fight with Derek Thompson and Chauncey Gilliam for the MAC 6th man of the year award.

RE: All MAC...1/2 way
Maybe Reggie Keely over Allen Roberts in the East... but even then, on paper the statistics tend to favor Roberts. Tough to argue with any of those picks.

Thought a bit about Keely. I wanted to justify more than one Ohio player on the list.

Problem is, Keely isn't even in the top 20 in rebounding in conference games. That means he averages less than 4.8 rebounds a game. His 14.4 points per game can't overcome that considering he is THE big man on Ohio's team.

Ultimately he will likely get on that list...but I tried to go a traditional route and make sure every team was repped. Also, I have 5 forwards/centers repped on the East squad. It's hard to argue that he's played better than Marshall, Treadwell, Calhoun, McCrea or Evans.

The way the votes go Paul will never make 2nd team MAC West. He will make All Frosh team and has a great shot at Frosh of year.
MAC voters won't put him in two spots as awards.

If that happens, and Paul continues to perform and WMU wins the West and gets a top 4 seed...it will be a joke.

He's in the top 30 in scoring and top 15 in rebounding.

Here is a list of guys that show up on both lists...conference only stats.

Majok - Ball St (#9 and #1)
McCrea - Buffalo (#1 and #3)
Pearson - Toledo (#3 and #8)
Evans - Kent St (#5 and #13)
Felder - Miami (#8 and #6)
Calhoun - BGSU (#11 and #4)
Nader - NIU (#13 and #8)
Whittington - WMU (#15 and #5)
Marshall - Akron (#17 and #7)
Treadwell - Akron (#23 and #2)
Bond - Ball St (#25 and #12)
Paul - WMU (#30 and #15)

Could make a decent case for Felder needing to be on the East squad...not sure who he would replace though.

RE: All MAC...1/2 way
IF the regular season ended today...the MAC Tournament would look like this

1. Akron
2. Ohio
3. WMU
4. EMU
5. NIU - via their 2-0 record vs the tied teams and their win over Miami
6. Miami - via their 2-0 record vs the tied teams and their wins over Buffalo and BGSU
7. BGSU - via their win over Kent head to head and their win over EMU
8. Kent St - via their win over Buffalo and EMU
9. Buffalo
10. CMU - via their win over Ball St
11. Ball St

*NIU, Miami, BGSU, Kent St and Buffalo all sit at 3-5 in conference.
*Tiebreaker for multiple teams is total won lost record of games played among the tied teams.
*YES, you read that correct...NIU would get a bye in the first round if the Tournament was held now.

Tournament:

Buffalo
at Kent St

NIU gets winner. EMU gets winner in quarters. Akron waiting in semis

CMU
at BGSU

Ball St
at Miami

Winners play. WMU gets winner. Ohio waiting in semis

*That's one of the most favorable draws we can get.
*Would love to figure out a way to steal a #2 seed

Crawford is shooting like 38% and turns it over a ton. No way he's first team.

I believe he averages more points and assists and minutes than abreu. I'd take abreu over him any day, but typically they reward the "sexy" stats and disregard things like turnovers and shooting %

Of course, they reward players on winning teams as well.

Witness Kool's omission his junior year from all MAC team.

If you're predicting the year-end teams, combine the divisions.
