John Harbaugh lost the game at the 2:30 mark
At the 2:30 mark with SF on the 3 yard line he lets the clock run down to the 2 min. warning. He had 3 time outs and a 5 point lead.

Call the TO, let them score, and it's a 2 point game with 2:30 plus the 2 min. warning. All he needs is a FG.

Yeah, I was never a huge fan of those corner-endzone lob passes.

49er fans will probably scream about a holding no-call. Although I'm not sure the ball was even catchable in bounds.

Jim's sideline hissy fits are almost as entertaining as any play during the game.

Who was the AD that hired Darnell instead of Harbaugh?

Was he seriously a candidate for the WMU job in 97? This is the first I've heard of that.

Your QB just scored the longest scoring run in Super Bowl history.

So you call 4 straight pass plays?

WMU AD James C. Weaver hired Darnell as coach before Weaver left for Virginia Tech.
KB was hired as AD in the fall of 1997.

RE: John Harbaugh lost the game at the 2:30 mark
I can only imagine if this board had existed back then, and we hired John Harbaugh. We would've only complained about his father struggling here, and now we were hiring the Cincy special teams coach. Who had never coordinated, and only had his jobs because of daddy.

RE: John Harbaugh lost the game at the 2:30 mark
He went on to get some great experience after that time frame, if he were hired as HC, I think it would have been a fail, and I doubt he would have taken it after his dad was broomed.

I have a hard time thinking he was seriously considering the job all things considered.

I never heard his name at that time, and a good friend of mine coached with him at Cincinatti. Hard to believe he'd apply here.

Yeah but the thought of it provided for some good back and forth here. 03-melodramatic
