RE: The MAC is talking to Appalachian State
It says there is some info to come about the MAC and some info to come about AppSt. Nowhere does it say they are necessarily related.

App St and GaS are perfect for the SBC. Seems like the ideal fit for both.

I agree, but there is chatter involved with the MAC that concerns App State (I dont think it would be GSU), so either the MAC is talking with App State or App State is talking about somebody else that the MAC is targeting that somehow effects them and their decisions.

Agreed. Perhaps the Sun Belt is looking at someone ahead of App and Georgia Southern and if that program is off the board to the MAC then one of those two teams gets the nod. I don't think you can infer from that the MAC is talking to App. Plus also note he has only received a response from Georgia Southern. App has not responded to the request yet.

Agreed.

BTW, Tom Kleinlein, who is the new Ga.So. AD, was KSU's associate AD just a couple of months ago, so he's a guy who is intimate with what is going on in the MAC. We were sorry to see him go. We just hired the Towson Assoc. AD to replace him.

RE: The MAC is talking to Appalachian State
I've seen many argue Appy isn't a good fit for the MAC. I think they are.

They are a brand name football school that people nationally know... I would love for people to associate App State football with MAC football.

I am not arguing they fit perfectly in our footprint. They don't. I think they fit well enough considering everything else they bring to the table. They would fit better if we added them along with JMU. The way the MAC sits currently, adding 2 doesn't really make sense. Going to 15 (or 16) just doesn't benefit the MAC enough (unless we are adding top programs) when you consider we have to spread our conference money around that much more...

Western Kentucky looks pretty lonely out there.

I agree wholeheartedly (if we absolutely had to add an FCS team.

Uggh. We should just all drop down to FCS now because with all these superconferences being formed and the MAC, CUSA, and Sun Belt scrambling to add FCS into the fold, we are simply helping to widen that gap between the power conferences and non-power conferences.

Miami, I just don't see (at least based on what he wrote) how this pertains to the MAC. He mentioned that he has FOIA requests from the MAC, but it wasn't specifically pertaining to App State. I just thought he was curious and figured, "what the hey? i'll request one for them too!".

He said he has FOIA docs from GSU in hand that reference both App State and the MAC, but didnt reveal if the MAC was talking directly to App or if App was talking about the MAC and how it could effect App depending on what the MAC was up to. But some how App was interested in what the MAC plans were. By the way, the same blogger is now showing more docs from his FOIA.

RE: The MAC is talking to Appalachian State
I'd want to see WKU, then JMU, then Delaware in order I want for our 14th team. This assuming that UMass agrees as a full member though.

RE: The MAC is talking to Appalachian State
For Football only it would work, but there are better options like JMU or Delaware which could easiy jump to the MAC all-sports if UMass changed their minds and came all in.
