RE: Sun Belt expansion news
There was a link in the basketball forums that the SoCon is going with 11 teams next year... maybe the eleven is minus ASU and GASO and plus ETSU and Mercer?

RE: Sun Belt expansion news
this was on the SoCon board today:

"Talked to some people last night. What I'm hearing, UNCW board is interested, but not much the SoCon can do because of the large exit fee for UNCW and the SoCon won't help with it.

Richmond is expressing interest in football only membership, right now, the SoCon is just talking.

Outside of that, the SoCon wants to extend membership to ETSU, VMI and Mercer. Honestly, I think those three are solid adds that are a good fit for the non-App/GSU part of the conference. A private school with solid basketball and baseball and most likely later scholarship football that will fit in well and keeps the SoCon in the Georgia market. ETSU and VMI who have their own sets of strengths for various points of the conference."

Wow..it looks legit.

As one poster on that forum noted, they could have a different map for each simulation they've been envisioning. Sounds far-fetched.......until......you look more carefully at the map. They've still got states (NM, MO, KA?) where there are no longer Sun Belt teams. I'm not sayin' either way - just pointing out that interesting little nuance. Other than (possibly) that, looks legit.
