Actually, I donno how it looked online/on TV but it was a pretty decent crowd. More than I had expected, at least.

I was there. It felt like a decent crowd, fairly loud when we were up. If that was 1,300 its going to be fun when we start to avg. 3-4k again...

I was there, too. It was loud. I can't imagine what 4K would sound like.

RE: Toledo
Bummer NIU couldn't get the win.
There were 11 assists in the game. FOR BOTH TEAMS COMBINED. Bad one-on-one basketball by both squads.
The good news is, with nobody passing the ball, at least turnovers were down.
NIU played right into Toledo's hands by fouling as well. The rebounding war was even, at least.
The hustle was there, but it's still a frustrating offense. This game felt too much like the Ricardo Patton "Xavier Silas show featuring nobody" offense. With Nader playing Silas, of course.
Bolin had a monster game; 18 points on six shots? With Nader going 8-22, there's more shots there for Bolin. Has to be.
Despite the negatives, NIU had a chance to win this one so I can't be crazy upset. But it was an annoying loss.

+1. My first game in years. I like that place, I just wish we could fill it up. I used to love Chick Evans field house cause we did fill it up and we had good teams (81-85) and exciting players. If we get some good teams, we should fill up the convo. It's not as ideally located as the fieldhouse, especially on brutally cold days like yesterday (with the DeKalb wind), but it will fill up. Do they have busses from dorms to convo?
A couple notes on the game... Our guards (Baker, Balls, Christian) are pretty good penetrators, but I was sitting on the baseline of the Huskies basket and I could watch the direction of their outside shots, not one was on line. They need to practice their shooting from the top, cause that was one of the differences in the game. The only guys I see who can hit open shots from 3 pt. land are JJ, Bolin, and Nader. When we play EMU again, we need them taking the outside shots, unless Baker and Balls are just going through a bad streak. As has been said, Toledo are excellent free throw shooters and another huge difference in the game. The team had a lot of energy and when we came back to take the lead, the bench was really into it (Nader was doing the most cheering).
We were there for an admitted students day. Walking from the parking lot to the student center was brutal. The wind was whipping up just like I used to remember 30 years ago. A bad day to take any tours. The new dorms are awesome! Over $12k a year, but it's worth it for the food (all you can eat and different options), workout room, lobby area with fireplace and TV's, single rooms for everyone, share bathroom between 2 people, Nice kitchen eating and sitting area with nice TV's that are shared between 12 people in a cluster.

There are buses from the dorm to the Convo. Not a ton on the weekend I think.

RE: Toledo
I didn't read all the posts, but did anyone mention anything about fast breaks? I don't remember too many and I know we didn't get any steals for uncontested layups. In the first half we gave them a couple of easy steals for layups, but we were much better after the half.

RE: Toledo
NIU made more baskets, more three pointers, more assists and less turnovers. Toledo had three more rebounds and made ten more free-throws. Toledo got 35 free-throws on the road, that doesn't happen often. The game was decided at the free-throw line. These teams are pretty evenly matched. The game was annoying because NIU should have one, but I give Toledo credit for making their free-throws. The huskies are still in contention for the 5th seed, in the tourney. They must win Wednesday against BGSU. NIU probably will be favored.

Bingo..you are correct about the free throws especially the last 10 minutes of the game
(1)Complete defense breakdown gave Toldeo 2 uncontested layups
(2)Twice we foul them as the shot clock is winding down ...they make all 4 fts
correct me if I am wrong but I believe we shot 65% ft
(3)We also threw up a prayer on one possession when we forgot that the shot clock was winding down
Those are the type of mistakes that are more mental than physical

RE: Toledo
The loss is all on me. Call it the cyberjinx.
When I left work at 4:45 and turned on car radio shortly after when en-route to grocery store, NIU was winning 58-55.
Shortly afterwards my thoughts and words which filled the parking lot are forever

RE: Toledo
well, he is a redshirt junior which might make it worse but he was given the ball in a tough spot and when he couldn't create anything tried to dump it off.....it is easy to criticize from the 12th row but I would prefer to consider what an amazing game he had: 18 points on only 6 shots---awesome,,,,played 37 minutes with just one turnover--tremendous....6 rebounds--pretty damn good.....and he was awfully good on defense....

Cagey, Bolin is not a redshirt junior, he is a true junior. This is only his 3rd year here.

This team is just so young. Bolin is the only upperclass guy getting many minutes and we only have 3 sophs. Next years team will give us a better gage as to where this program is.
