RE: Springs leaving?
You guys are just trying to imitate Toledo by having transfers leave.

Brandon Hayes is a walk-on. We haven't had a transfer leave. Springs is a freshman.

I thoght Sam Mader was injured and therefore not playing. He is from Wisconsin, pretty close to NIU. Freshman year is always a period of adjustment.

He sits with the team every game (in warmup suit)

RE: Springs leaving?
Here I go again.

What past and future obstacles to bball success are the greatest to overcome and why?

...for decades it was the facilities... NIU is on its fourth coach in 12 seasons...Many thought Judson was the one to turn the corner?
He had a strong track record before his hire...and Hammel had a few years of modest success...

...others think making any inroads in CPS is a dead end. The really best recruits with the academics required are scooped up by the big boys...the talent with questionable academics end up at memphis and the Bulls...even UI and DePaul struggle with recruiting in chitown...

...there must be plenty of "blueprints to success" which enabled schools like Valpo, Butler, George Mason and so many other midmajors to discover the road to the big dance...

....is it the AAU connection with city coaches and money under the table which we have not and will not do?

Is there something inherent and systemic in NIU's operations/athletics dept keeping the dawgs tied to a short chain? Is there not enuff money after football devoted to hiring the best available coaches and funding their recruiting needs?

Fixing bball programs should be simpler, shorter than turning the dreadful football huskies around from the nineties...

In all reality, the player revolving door is starting again.
