Good stats....
36 points in the paint, tonite. 25 points scored off of UTEPs turnovers. 24 points by Jordan. 17 assists by the team, 55% field goal percentage in the second half. 4-5 field goals in overtime. Good scoring by several players. Outstanding team-coaching effort and continuity of play on both ends of the court in the final 9 minutes of regulation and five minutes of overtime. Strong, strong finish.

And once again, I was WRONG...WRONG...WRONG as I am sitting here peacefully and humbly....eating my hat.

Have a nice weekend, friends.

You've lost a lot of credibility today, Gorilla. Maybe if you had spent 20 rather than 18 years at UAB practices; maybe if you had played pick up games with Artis Gilmore's brother rather than his cousin, maybe then you would have known more about basketball.

RE: Good stats....
Our free throw defense improved greatly in this game. UTEP shot 48.3% from the FT line (14/29). That was the difference in the game.

That was the difference!

Good defense has to start some where.

They saved the celebrating for after the game and Coach Haase chest thumped Quincy half way across the locker room and he pancaked against a concrete wall. Best, worst, high five of the season.

RE: Good stats....
This can be a good team. They just need to find a way now to be more consistent as Coach Haase said. No reason we need to allow ourselves to get behind like we do just to have to fight that uphill battle the rest of the game. I hope this is just the bit of confidence they needed.

UTEP is a good team. USM is probably a better team, so this will be a good challenge on Saturday. Hope everyone brings a friend and we have a good crowd. I think the fans for this UTEP game (though relatively small in number) helped with the emotion and intensity of the game.

Hopefully the light that went on in the second half last night will stay on. This team isn't going to overwhelm the opposition with talent so they have to bring the intensity from the opening tip. Everybody that plays basketball has off nights shooting. If you're healthy, you can always play hard on defense.

RE: Good stats....
Aggressive, disciplined (no, the two are not contradictory), crisp, sharp, play will make up for a lot of talent differential.

I like this team. I liked them before last night. I still like them. I'm also very happy for them this morning.

They fell behind, kept grinding, made plays in the clutch, and won. That's something to build on.
