That may not sound like a marque team and it isn't but what will we send?
We will send #3, presumably.
Now would MWC #4 be a more desirable match up? Sure.
There is nothing that says in fine print that:
A) We are 100 percent staying with the Potato Bowl. There is solid interest by both parties though.
B) The Potato Bowl is necessarily going to be a low pick from the MW.
No decisions have been made.

So this could give the Potato Bowl the #5 team if Hawaii is bowl eligible and has only 7 wins (they need 7 wins to be bowl eligible since they can play 13 regular season games).
Yup! On top of that there is a rumor that the Armed Forces bowl in Dallas may be going to the BE in 2014 because of Houston, SMU, Tulane and likely Tulsa being in the area...and the BE will likely need to make up for their own lost bowls.
So out of the remaining 11 MWC teams look at the typical top 5 if they do lose the bowl in FW TX.
Boise St, San Diego St, Air Force, Nevada, Fresno ST, Utah St, San Jose St, New Mexico, Wyoming & UNLV.

This seems fairly spelled out...

The MAC's contract with the game is up after the 2013 season.

I doubt anyone else WANTS to be in that bowl.
I have no doubt that the MAC will be in that bowl in 2014 and it seems safe unless...
-Idaho joins the Sun Belt...but I seriously think that would only get them a Secondary bid for either of the slots...just as it will be for 2013 for Idaho.
-The P12 invites Boise St
-The B12 invites Boise St

They are talking about completely revamping the non-access bowls for 2014 and beyond, moving to 6 year contracts and involving multiple conferences as a norm.
It could be a situation where the MAC, CUSA and MWC split all of the bowl games up and assign pairings by record.

The situation is fluid enough there is no reason to scream that the sky is falling over the Potato Bowl yet until the future of the game is decided...
