Alumni Challenge
I may get blasted for this, but I wanted to post it anyways. The past 24 hours have been very nerve racking, yet exciting for us with a major hurdle removed for the return of ETSU football. With that being in mind, I'd like to challenge all of the Alumni to pledge at least $250 this year (the same amount that student fees will increase) to help ETSU and the student body get this thing going. Here is a link to the Buccaneer Athletic Scholarship Association (BASA). That's roughly $21 a month for a whole year. With it being income tax return season, some of us may have a little extra $. Even if you can't give the $250, just giving $5-20 is at least something. We can do this! Let's help get this ship out of the bay and out to sea!! Go Bucs!

Why would you be blasted for this? If you'd said this two months ago I would of blasted you myself...but not now. Not Now.

I will let everyone determine their own level of commitment but every alumni that wanted football to return should "give" in some way. Assuming the Board of Regents agrees with the return of football, I am more than up for your challenge

I totally agree! Even if people can only give $5, that is at least something! We need to help the students....they can't, and shouldn't have to do this alone.

I agree, money needs to start rolling in this year from a lot of people in the community to make this venture set up for future success. Everyone looks to the big donors to be the saving grace but while those big money donations are great, they should hail in comparison to the amount from a populous throwing at this program what it can.

There is a very strong fire burning inside a lot of Buc fans right now. Let's hope that Dr. Noland and Dr. Sander are expedient in beginning a campaign to raise money for football.

I have seen several negative comments regarding donations to BASA in order to purchase season tickets for basketball. I have supported their decision from the beginning to make it mandatory. I wonder if the return of football changes the minds of the fans at all? I'm sure the same will apply to football season tickets. The news today has definitely made my decision to increase my donation every year a lot easier.

I'm with you on this DolFan, now's the time for all alumni to do what they can to support the Bucs. Let's get Kenny Chesney on board to perform at a concert for ETSU and for ETSU football. Let's get Mike "football" Smith involved. Go Bucs!

That would be awesome with Smith! I would love to see Chesney support it, but he is a HUGE Vols fan...not sure he would help...I could be wrong though and I hope I am!

Hey, you're thinking in the past. I've heard it said the SoCon would never consider taking ETSU back and football would never return. You got to look at the future and positive change with Dr. Noland at the helm. Hopefully he catches Kenny wearing orange and lets him know about it.

Speaking for me, personally, no. BASA (thespinelessbastardsformerlyknownasthePirateClub) have proven themselves, so far, of being incapable of standing up for football, honesty, and justice. They have not only *not* gained our trust, they have completely engendered *mis*trust.

I will NEVER NEVER EVER purchase season tickets for basketball, football, or even women's mud rasslin', with that extortionary requirement in place. I've been disrespected too much in that manner to cave in now. That's not saying I won't support in some manner, but I will not participate in paying extortion. I will not criticize others for doing so, but I can't go there, unless they publicly proclaim a mea culpa, and forego that practice.

RE: Alumni Challenge
Fans wanting to purchase season tickets can do so by visiting ETSUBucs.com or calling (423) 439-3878. Reserved seats behind home plate are $125 per ticket and seats down the first and third base lines are $75 each. In addition, season-ticket holders need to be a member of the Buccaneer Athletic Scholarship Association (BASA), which requires a minimum of a $100 donation to join.

They would have to give me a 100 bucks to go to ETSU baseball games. That is some funny stuff. Is there actually someone stupid enough to buy season tickets?

it is rather frustrating, but unfortunately it is the norm in college athletics. Here are MTSU football's (the only exceptions are the general admin tix):
hairback Reserved - $135
New seats have been installed for the 2012 season! Reserved seating in sections 1R, 2R or 1RR. These seats are only available to members of the Blue Raider Athletic Association (BRAA) with a minimum contribution of $250. To join the BRAA, call 615-898-2210

Stadium Club Reserved - $350
Reserved chairback seating in the club section, just below the stadium tower. Includes access to the Jeff Hendrix Stadium Club and all the amenities. These seats are only available to members of the Blue Raider Athletic Association (BRAA) with a minimum contribution of $2,500. To join the BRAA, call 615-898-2210.

General Admission - $70
General seating in the upper deck, north endzone, sections 1BB through 1DD.
Group General Admission - $50
For groups of 20 or more. General admission seating is located in each endzone.
Group Sideline Reserved - $85
For groups of 20 or more. Reserved seating is located in sections 1P/PP through 2T/TT, not including 1R, 2R and 1RR.

That's *exactly* what I meant by "upside-down". I almost wrote the same kind of thing - that it would be smarter for them to pay people to come, rather than piss them off with that attitude. I guess they're expecting sellouts. Yeah, that must be it.....

As I've said before.........JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE DOES SOMETHING DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT!
As my father used to say, "Just because Joe jumps off the cliff, does that mean you have to, too?"

I agree with you...in my first email to Dr. Noland after he was hired, I suggested that they not make a minimum donation requirement and make the tickets fairly priced around $150 or so for season tickets (obviously a little more for premium seats)

This is an awesome idea! I'll be doing mine through the Football Foundation when the time comes, I want mine going specifically to Football. I will switch over to BASA after the Foundation has had a chance to assist in fundraising. No offense to the other sports but I will never give an "unrestricted" dime to the BASA for other things that are fully funded. Mine will be designated and specific.
