How big of a pay cut would I have to take? The man is no spring chicken either, and it would certainly be less stress. All the fun parts (schmoozing with boosters, having a say in the run of things, good paycheck), much less grief (compliance, recruiting, film & game planning - being generous here - interviews that he hates, etc.). I'm sure knowing that 98% of the fan base wants you out has to wear on somebody.

Another role at ETSU or just put out to pasture, I'd take either, or anything else at this point to get anyone else in that chair.

Offical Fire Murry Bartow and Coaching Rumor Thread
I don't think Bartow sees talking with boosters as fun. At the fundraising events I've attended, he seems stressed. It was all he could do to say hey to me in Asheville as we passed on the sidewalk. I think interpersonal communication is taxing on him. And the thing about the fan base wanting him gone, I think Bartow has insulated himself from the community to the point that he doesn't hear any chatter.

Interesting comment about Bartow not wanting to talk with fans. Back in the early days of his reign, that was not the case. I remember sitting next to him at the A SUN tournament in Nashville the day after the Swader incident. We sat and talked for a long time. The same one day on the ramp to the dome, and after the SoCon tourney in Charleston.

There is a difference between booters and fans, I think Bartow loves to smooze with the Big money folks, the common "freakin" fan that leaves when we are down to Belmont by 20 he doesn't have any interest in .

He loves his groupies that tell him how great he is. Sad little old men who write big checks and Murry will call them his friend. That's who he likes. All we can do is hope that maybe a decision is being held up until after the NCAA tournament.

But during the tournament is when a lot of networking and interviewing takes place for new jobs, at least at the Final Four.

Bartow would not be making visits to recruit Londell King if he was being fired, IMO. At best, I speculate Sander told him during the long talk that another losing conference record would not be tolerated next year, and he would have to prove himself dramatically next year and after to be extended any further. I expect Bartow to return. But I hope Sander is networking in case a can't miss coach does emerge.

Oh I know... Perhaps Alabama will let Shaka Smart go now that Bama lost today. I could see him falling into ETSU's lap and would be a great fit, especially considering ETSU to my recollection has never had a black head coach.

I am confused. Shaka Smart is still at VCU.. Anthony Grant is coaching at Alabama.

I meant Anthony Grant. Going back to college, raising three kids and barely sleeping will cause names to get mixed up. My bad.

You are absolutely delusional if you think that folks on a message board influence strategic decisions in ETSUs or any other legit athletic department. 07-coffee3

They don't influence them to a large degree, but this board is monitored heavily, and is a part of how the athletic department gauges fan interest and satisfaction.

Nope I never said that they do, but I'm glad that it finally happened. I just kind of got excited when I heard he had been fired. xD

Our opinions carry a little weight. However I feel like the conversations with Scott and Dr. Sander at the East Coast Wings games actually had meaning. And the email Sander sent me Monday was worded strongly. He cares what we think.

In Noland we trust.
