A friend shared this today and I thought it was enlightening.

I hate WalMart. I would never go there for grocery shopping. Correct me if I'm wrong but the ones around my area barely have any fresh fruits and veggies.

I couldn't agree more.

There is really nothing good about Walmart. One quick look at the people who shop there can tell you that. The uneducated masses.

Yup, we've always avoided all their stores like the plague.

I must say that the 2.3% increase in obesity rate for each Walmart that opens is the craziest (though not totally surprising...) statistic.

Here's another interesting infographic (from 2011) about them:

WalMart haters make me just shake my head. Just one question.

Why do you hate poor people?

The billionaires that own Walmart do not count as poor people.

I go to Walmart for stuff like oil and filters, small consumer electronics (cheap warranties and they just give you a new item). Coffee pots, etc. I also get my prescriptions there, they have a long list of $4 generic drugs.

I don't get food there. Something about their food areas gives me the willies.

RE: Walmart vs. our food system
I used to be mostly a Meijer guy but over time their pricing has gone up relatively. We still do most food shopping there.

Walmart is coming to Paw Paw.

I do agree they seem to be a negative influence in food production. Hard to fight them, so big, too big?

That's why "Whole Paychecks" and the like are gaining in popularity.

Those places are fun to shop, but yeah, they are pricy.

We have a CSA share for summer veggies and that is cool and not too expensive.
