Anyone agree with Moss? I have to go with former 49er Jerry Rice myself.
If being the greatest receiver ever has any affect (sarcasm) on the value of "Rookie Cards", then Randy Moss is full of it. I've got several of his rookie cards I got way back in the day and most aren't worth the paper they're printed on now.
He could have achieved so much more..............
I'd agree that if Jerry Rice isn't the greatest, he's at least in the Top 3.
Well not to go all economics but the value of most cards that came out in the 90s to the present are not worth the value they are printed on because of the market flood during the boom.
Just saying...
Wow, we've devolved into discussions about sports cards. I wish I still had all mine. I wonder what my old Barry Sanders rookie card would be worth these days...sealed in a screw-down plastic case, of course.
Speaking of that, my wife's Uncle has a ridiculous amount of cards. Im talking thousands and thousands. He basically has given me free access to pretty much any of them and he is having me sell them on ebay. The market obviously isnt what it was, but there is still a market out there and people are still buying. At least on ebay they are. Ive sold a pretty good amount in the last couple months. Of course on the flip side there have been a lot that havent sold.

It's definitely Jerry Rice.
I think Calvin Johnson has a chance to go down as one of the greatest to ever play the game. Larry Fitzgerald is a victim of circumstances right now, but with a QB his stats can still get way up there. Another guy who has put up huge numbers pretty quietly is Andre Johnson. If he didn't have so many injuries, he might have 13,000 in ten seasons. As it is, he's over 11,000 and might get to 20,000 in his career. Calvin Johnson is on pace to get very close to Rice's yardage mark. He is also in the ball park on receptions. The one thing these guys aren't doing is catching TD's at the rate Rice did. That record seems ridiculously tough to touch. One thing about Rice, A. Johnson, and Fitz is they don't fumble much. C. Johnson is a little more careless with the ball.(more fumbles lost than Fitz and A. Johnson combined)
Until we see one of these guys close in on Rice, there is no argument. Randy Moss was a freak of nature at his best, and a piss poor teammate at his worst. He put up tremendous numbers, but it's very difficult to even begin to argue he was better than Rice.
Well with the rule changes that benefit passing and recieving that were instituted a 3 years ago or so its kind of a joke to compare stats put up recently to anything that's been done. Drew Brees, Calvin Johnson all are a joke. Talented yes but nothing compared to those that came before them and actually had to work for their yards. A. Peterson and his rushing yards is the only record (almost) that's admirable. The rest were hand delivered on a silver platter.
Did you really just call Drew Brees and Calvin Johnson a joke? You can say that their stats are inflated somewhat, but a joke? You lose all credibility for saying something so dumb.
Have you seen the measurables on Calvin Johnson? By all accounts, he has a great work ethic. Plus, he has had Jon Kitna, Shaun Hill, and Dan Orlovsky throwing to him for large amounts of time. Calvin Johnson is a freak of nature, and he is going to go down as one of the best to ever play the game if he is healthy. Teams are doing the same things to him that they were doing to Moss when he was with the Patriots, and he isn't getting covered either.
And Drew Brees won a damn Super Bowl over Peyton Manning.
There is only one joke around here, and it isn't either of those guys.
Joke meaning that you cant compare ANY current stats made post NFL rule changes that have benefited QB and WRs. This is nondebateable and has been covered to the point of exhaustion from media to fans to the drunk guy at the bar. The majority of Moss's career was player before these rule changes thus it was much harder to rack up yards compared to the wussification that we have now in the pass happy NFL.
If you think Drew Brees breaking Dan Marino's record is an accomplishment or Calvin Johnson breaking Jerry Rice's record is an accomplishment then you would be correct. However, the rules were made so they could break those records and that in itself was the meaning of my "joke" comment. Sorry I wasnt more clear.

Whoever said here that Moss is a legend in his own mind hit the nail on the head. I can personally name 25-30 WR's that are, IMO, better than Moss.
Do it then so we can laugh at you.

Haven't really seen it, but for everyone who keeps saying Moss played with inferior QB's, well in Rice's era QB's didn't throw 35-40 times a game. Also, you could mean mug the **** out of a WR compared to what you can today. I'm not taking anything away from Moss, great, great WR, but he wasn't Jerry Rice.

I am sure everyone has already said this, but has he not heard of Jerry Rice?

Bout 100.00 ungraded.
I have the Topps "Traded" set card where he' s sitting on an aluminum bench at the Silverdome. That's a legitimate Barry Sanders rookie card, and I don't think it's worth that. Was there a Pro Set rookie card for Barry?
I don't know who the greatest WR is, but I wouldn't go with Rice. He had good hands and was durable.
Somebody said Drew Brees was overrated ... he definitely got exposed last year, and it will be interesting to see if he can reverse that. I suspect that he will not, but i get a lot of crap wrong.
http://footballcardspriceguide.com/footb...p?set=6618
That card is worth about $4.
The Barry Sanders rookie that is worth some money is from the Score set. The card has went down in value significantly over the years. I have the entire set, and there are some other good rookies in it, so I'm hoping some day down the road it may be worth something.
I collected a ton of cards in the mid to late 90's, and the values have all come crashing down, even on numbered cards. Maybe one day the values will come back up, but it seems your best bet is to sell rookie cards almost as soon as you get them.(unless you have a weird case like Tom Brady) I have sold bits and pieces of my collection on Ebay, but I have gotten nowhere near what I would have 10-15 years ago for the same cards.(I sold an Edgerrin James Topps Chrome rookie back in 2000 because I got a duplicate for $50. Today, I could maybe get $5 for the same exact card.)
That's about what I figured. I have that whole Topps Traded set. With Fourcade, Walsh, and Massey, it's like an encyclopedia of bad Saints players of the 1990s.

Yeah, I don't understand how people can go this far off the deep end.
Moss was a great receiver. Top 10 without a doubt, and most likely top 5 in history. Rice is far ahead of every other receiver in history. Moss is in the second group you'd start discussing.
25-30 receivers better than Moss, haha.
