ACC Winter Meetings tomorrow!
The usual will be done, finalizing schedules, talking about integrating ND, Louisville, SU,and Pitt into the league, here are a couple of things that are supposedly coming up in the meeting tomorrow.

Most important: Maryland's Exit fee
1. Notre Dame is supposed to give decision on whether it is coming in 2013 or 2014 for bball this week to the ACC.
2. A discussion for a 6th game. (Would mean play Pitt or BC annually, no stoppage)
3. A discussion of realigning divisions, Virginia not happy with rival being Louisville.
4. Big 12 Alliance
5. ACC Network
6. Realignment, see if everyones committed, listen to suggestions.

Anything you guys hope comes out of the meetings this week?
Knowing Swofford he will not be as open as Bowlsby was on what goes on inside of the meeting.

RE: ACC Winter Meetings tomorrow!
My thoughts on this agenda, FWIW:

#1 & 5 ought to be linked (i.e. once ACC adds another team for basketball, baseball, etc. they need to immediately launch a network)

#2 - hopefully this happens and the ACC either gets another bump in pay, or better still, gets enough tier 3 rights to launch a network.

#3 - I hope they do this in a way that makes sense. I really like the one Chris02M proposed:
(see also Rx: Better ACC Schedules, part 1)

#4 - if the ACC gets a good bowl tie-in with the Big 12, I'll be happy.

#6 - pointless. I'm sure Maryland said they were committed the last meeting they attended.

I honestly don't think there will be a realignment of divisions like the OP is suggesting in #3 of discussions. Yes Louisville is set to take over Marylands spot, but what I have read is that Louisville will be paired with Pitt not Virginia once Louisville is in the ACC, but if not then the easiest solution to this would be to swap match ups with VT and Boston College. Let Louisville and Virginia Tech be the rivalry game, and Virginia and Boston College have at. The Louisville/VT match up looks and sounds much better IMO, and one I am sure would draw much attention from TV, but I honestly don't think Louisville and Virginia are going to be cross divisional rivals just due to us taking Marylands place amongst the division.

What is the best outlet to follow any news that comes out of this?

RE: ACC Winter Meetings tomorrow!
1) I don't see how ND can tell anyone anything about this, unless there are some super secret ND/Aresco negotiations that nobody knows about.

2) I hope not, sorry.

3) As a fan of a partial member, I've got no standing here. If ND joined for football, I would hope for North/South geographically correct divisions as a negotiated price/condition of admission by ND.

4) This is interesting and I am looking forward to hearing more about this.

5) Who knows?

6) See #4 above.

What, VA. Doesn't want to be our rival after We gave Them Jeff Lamp, Lee Raker, and Terry Gates for a Final Four team?
Anyway We would love to shadow Pitt. Very classy program and both of Us river cities.

RE: ACC Winter Meetings tomorrow!
When talking about the divisions the feeling is they will be VERY similar to how they are , not geographic. The southern schools like northern exposure and northern schools like recRuiting angles in the south. If anything look for football powers as the ACC calls them to be split so the championship game had a chance to be more prominent. So look for swaps Louisville to the coastal with Pitt in the Atlantic rather than an overhaul.

Call me a Hokie homer if you wish, but I think the most important split is:

Clemson/FSU vs. Miami/VT

beyond that, you're basically just guessing who's going to be good at football...

about Clemson moving to the Coastal, FSU and Clemson would have to be cross rivals. (Meaning Miami too would have to move[/b] divisions). That would be an almost guaranteed top 25 matchup in the championship game. I doubt Clemson would support it though.

More on the plate but those are the main points coming out from a family member who works in an ACC school. (The benefits of large families in the Northeast with connections :)) This stuff isn't really private you can find out, this meeting isn't a secret either. Yes Jurich will be there too

If this is being done to make UVA happy, I don't see GT being swapped. I don't think GT wants to be swapped based on the comments by their new AD.

It's more complicated then some would like to admit. I personally prefer N/S, I don't see how it couldn't work southerners still get two northern games and same for northern schools, but alas College athletics

Supposedly the ACC is pursuing a PAC 12 alliance as hard or harder than the Big XII one. The ACC is also in talks with some other unnamed conferences for alliances as well.

Let's not derail the thread with our 1000th discussion about redrawing the divisions.

I think flipping clemson in rotation helped them balance with Georgia.
