Yes he did. To which I repeat. How can one watch Tennis without attending?

Going to Tennis isn't my beef with Kingsport. I just find his attempt to deny it disingenuous. The thing one must remember about Kingsport is that he is against football. ALways has been. He has supported the Mullins model.

RE: Drop Athletics All Together?
I like football, I don't like ETSU football. The only reason I see for having football at ETSU is if it aids our premier sport of basketball and as a marketing effort for the school.

I think you might think I am someone else. I do not work for ETSU. I do not give to the sports programs, my family has season tickets to basketball games. I am a member of the Foundation. I know and talk to a number of ETSU administration people from time to time.

I am not having a day in the sun as you put it. If football comes it won't impact me. If the school puts football back and we end up in a better conference for basketball that would be great. The other model would be to properly run your basketball program and bring it back to the national stage without football. I would favor that way but its not going to kill me.

Last thing on the disengenous tennis posts:

Here is my one post outside of the one above that have tennis in them:

Pitt,

I agree with you on this one. I think ETSU should have a goal of growing into a consistent high major in basketball and baseball and look to be a national level team in the other sports - tennis and golf. ETSU has been stuck in the same situation for awhile now and it would be nice for ETSU to grow.

Heaven forbid that we root for success in tennis. You make it sound like we should boot against tennis just because you can't go see ETSU football.

This guy has a LONG history of supporting the Mullins model and it is typical of Rod to fire at Goldfinger. Jealousy never ends.

When you root against a ETSU football team you root for the smallness of ETSU athletics. When you root for the success of the country club sports on top of that you root for the longevity of ETSU athletic irrelvency.

You don't wish for success. You are against football and therefor against a successful ETSU. You have touted ETSU tennis for years. You advocate for tennis in the same breath you condemned football. All the while you claim you wanted a strong basketball program. However, a strong basketball program requires football which have been very vocally against. And you say you're not a country clubber? Thou doest protest a bit too much, me thinks.

Here is the problem with your argument. There is a model for ETSU success without football. You just refuse to believe it. That's fine but don't condem me for thinking its possible.

It failed miserably. Look around you.

But hey....at least you admit your position. I'll give you that.

I want to say this one more time.

If we need to have football to avoid D2 or to advance basketball then I am for reinstating it.

The model that Stanton and Mullins tried didn't work, elevate the program without football, lets try the model where we elevate the program WITH football. ETSU would be much stronger player in the conference shuffle with football, we are behind but maybe showing people we are serious about bringing back football that might help our standing in getting to a better conference.

You have to have football to advance basketball. I have argued this with you for years and I am right. That doesn't mean you will advance by acquiring football. But you will most certainly NOT advance without it.
