Yeah the better rated the better it sounds but the real proof of recruiting is about 2 years down the road with a few exceptions. The coaches are guessing to some degree because so many factors can change a top flight prospect into a bust or a little recuited player into star, so I don't really get all up or down over it. I do agree though that the other thread had gotten stupid and needs to be locked.

..top of my head our best two qbs were recruited by nobody...favre never threw in hs and davis was pulled from the baseball team

...on the flipside deandre brown had great frosh season then was never the same and we all know what happened with alford

....two no looks vs two five stars...

....sums it up for me

Alford was a 4* but the point is perfectly valid....I honestly believe a 3* is the best choice for lower cartel and non cartel conference teams. Those guys are really top HS players, probably big man on their HS campus and then learn that few of the teams penciled in as a top 10 team for the next decade are after them --- they come in pissed and with a bit of a chip on their shoulder. I'd take a kid upset he's not at notre dame and out to prove they passed over the wrong player than one or two prima donna's who poison the whole team any time.

the whole rating system is defective. just look at austin davis. he was a walk on, and he broke brett favre's records.
