RIP: SEC-Big East Challenge (2007-2012)
I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later with the Catholic 7, Notre Dame, & Louisville leaving. Still thought that 2013 would happen since we'd be down only Syracuse & Pitt for the season.

it was a waste anyway...we usually went like 9-3 or 8-4 anyway....maybe the SEC should hook up with the Missouri Valley. Probably would be closer for them.

More evidence this league is comatose and being fed through a tube.

I understand if the SEC would have no further interest but the irony is thick since the current Big East always waxed that a**.

Won't cry over this. I have no idea why we played the SEC in this challenge anyway. Most of those teams were garbage and not worth our time.

Fail of an event to begin with, perhaps the bigger fail is that the SEC no longer wants to play the nBE....

So do we replace this with a BE-MWC challenge. You beat us for Boise, b ut we beat you one the court.

SEC-Big 12 Challenge looks to be taking the place of the Big East-SEC Challenge. I would prefer a scheduling a basketball series with C-7 each season on neutral sites or host cities.

New York at MSG, St. John's-Temple, UConn-Georgetown,
Memphis, Memphis-Xavier, St. Louis-Houston
Chicago, DePaul-USF, Cincinnati-Marquette

Match ups can change but I think something like this could work.

I think this would be a great idea... maybe have it be a 4 night event- 2 dh at MSG and then 2 dh at Memphis maybe. with the other 4 games on campus.

maybe like:
Temple/St Johns, UConn/Georgetown night 1 at MSG
Cincy/Villanova , USF/Seton Hall night 2 at MSG
Memphis/Xavier, Houston/St Louis night 3 at Memphis
USM/Marquette, UCF/DePaul night 4 at Memphis

then from the C7 you'd have left Providence, Butler, Dayton, Creighton
from the NBE you'd have left ECU, SMU, Tulane, and Tulsa?

MSG would have more of the old school matchups if you will, and Memphis would have more of the newer matchups.

I really like the idea, but I think it would be more of a pre conference tournament. Have it as a Big East Alumni Invtational at MSG

Pitt - West Virgina - BC - Providence - Villanova - Cincinnati - Georgetown - UCONN - Temple - Rutgers - Memphis - St. Johns
USF - Virgina Tech - Miamia - UCF - SMU - Marquette - Houston - Tulane - Louisville - DePaul - Notre Dame - Syracuse -

I might be missing a school but this is a 12 game set that could work as a multi weekend event like coaches vs cancer. Logisticaly you would just have to make sure conference teams would not play each other

C7 - 7 teams - ACC - 7 teams - Big 12 - 1 team - B1G - 1 team - Big East 9 - 12 teams.

In the event a team or two can't play a year you still ECU & Navy (maybe) to pull as Big East affiliates, and you can always grab the 3 almost Big Easters in SDST, Boise St, and TCU.

Ideally you would want the 12 Big East schools playing one of the Alums.
The Big East is a beautiful brand and all of schools that once played and thrived in it should pay homage. This would be a great way to keep the brand relevant and tied to its past.

The only wedge in this would be if the C7 get the name.
