Lexi Carpenter is gone, she never actually enrolled at JMU. Information I heard said that she was brought in because Mickens needed a wake up call and Kenny Brooks wanted somebody to challenge her or take her place. Mickens got straightened out and Carpenter left before the semester started. It is also about the time Mickens started to get playing time again.

I was wondering what happened to her. Just seemed strange that she was there, then all of sudden you never saw her again.

RE: Basketball Recruits - 2013
Just found out that JMU Women added another 2014 recruit named Carley Brew. She is described as a blue color type player at 6 ft. I'm not sure how long she has been committed, but I only knew of Chania until Duke Dawg posted the info. on the Zone. A tweet from Stoss "A bit more on those 2 2014 WBB commits since someone wrote about them. Brew has been described to me as shorter version of Meredith Alexis."

Looking back on this, I think you are right. This was about the time when Mickens began to play better. Now she is a force to be reckon with. Maybe not fully yet, but certainly getting there. She had two very big games in the WNIT so far.

RE: Basketball Recruits - 2013
Copying this from the other board.
http://www.caahoops.com
- James Madison picked up a commitment from 6’7″ Serbian forward Ivan Lukic. There’s not much on the web about him, but I’ll offer this: he was born in 1993, so he’ll play most (or all) of the season as a 20-year-old. That’s huge. He’s also JMU’s third Euro-born freshman for 2013-2014.

Lukic, Satkus, Cabarkapa and Semenov. Gonna be fun listening to Shickman try to pronounce these names. :)
Still want to find a point guard. Love Curry but he seems like the only PG on the roster.

Although it was very limited, didn't Arman Marks play PG a couple times?

Also, seems Semenov got his 6th year. With Mason gone the CAA will be even more wide open, and I only say that because I think Mason is returning every starter.

Great news for Semenov. Felt bad for the guy, he has been injured quite a lot. Probably one of the better defenders and 3-point shooters on team. So I guess we are a team of Europeans.

This is great news, hopefully he can stay healthy.

So do we still have Tom Rivard and Jackson Kent as recruits?

I read that Jackson Kent is a PG, so wondering if as a freshman he gets some minutes?

RE: Basketball Recruits - 2013
It is good to see JMU get decent recruits. I would have to think that with the success we had and with the seal of the freshman that others want to be a part of something special. Hope we are able to get new and better recruits each year.

RE: Basketball Recruits - 2013
I've really liked these two classes Brady has put together. How on earth he has been able to do this in the final year of his contract and quite literally with NO contract in place is mindboggling. His first class was quite good, and now the most recent ones, a pretty big gap in between there.
anyway, we are going to be really, really young next year, Sem and a bunch of Soph and Frosh. But going forward, assuming these new guys can play (which most signs point to uhhh, yea!) wre could be a really good program for years to come. I don;t anticipate any kind of drop off really. Whiole losing a bunch of Seniors certainly doesn't help lets's remember here-
Tourney MVP and athletic freak AJ Davis, really left a good impression. for the last 3 weeks. He was MIA for the first 3 months of the season. I think Nation can more than make up that produciotn over the course of a whole season.
Ray- a seemingly nicer, more fun loving guy would be hard to find. Screwed up there at the end, no big deal really. But halfway through the season most were calling for him to be benched Do we all remember that? Get Bessick a damn sammich or two and someone piss him off before the games and we should be okay there. Also have Carabacka (sp? not looking) I think we can make up for losing Ray.
Devon, had a very good season. We wouldn't have won like we did without him. For me, he was clearly the tourney MVP. No high flying- crowd gasping dunks, but when we needed a bucket- DM. When we HAD to make our FT's DM. He'll be tough to replace, he's also the steadying force on a team that could have flown apart at any given time it seemed. But time to move on. Curry and Cooke will get most of tihs time I guess, maybe the new kid Kent can fill some minutes as well.
Wish we had another season with Diuof, what is he even 20 yet? he became another steady guy. Decent producer, probably about 5-7 points a game but was a gamer too. Went hard when we needed it, but was/is exactly the same kind of tweener that we have an entire stable of. Liked Alione, but we have more than enough to make up for that.
Anywho's, we'll be fine. We may actually be better. If the parts fall into place and Brady can get the chemistry and cohesion going early, we have athleticism by the boatload. Should be a fun run these next few years.
