Dodd on ACC B12 thingy
Couple of quotes

Quote:“Bob doesn't want to expand, doesn't believe in it,” said a source. “Doesn't believe it's good for the student-athlete.”

Quote:If the Big 12 wanted to stage a conference championship game, it could probably do it tomorrow. Bowlsby's idea to get rid of the NCAA's 12-team conference minimum for such a game has support from the ACC -- and probably ever other conference. It is noncontroversial.

RE: Dodd on ACC B12 thingy
Not a lot of substance in there..

Makes sense that no one really has a clue what the B12 is doing because I am not sure the B12 knows what they are doing. They are #3 in the pecking order when it comes to destinations and until the B10 or SEC move, I doubt that the B12 can convince a team to join free and clear.

You do realize Miami has a 2 game lead presently? Or are you talking about once Syracuse and Louisville come in and give the ACC some real hoops programs? 05-stirthepot

RE: Dodd on ACC B12 thingy
Bowlsby is a fool if he thinks every other conference is going to sign off on a 10 league conference championship game. Cable tv and internet has made it out to the Great Plains, right??

"Bowlsby said the league could take the idea of a championship game with a 10-team league to the NCAA board of directors this year. But the Big 12 has to think long and hard about staging such a game. It is the only BCS league that doesn't have a conference title game.

Good or bad? It has been pointed out many times that in 2011, Oklahoma State would have passed Alabama for the No. 2 spot in the BCS if the Cowboys had played in and won a Big 12 title game."

The ACC would be up for it because they think that stops the big 12 from inviting Acc members. But I would guess the PAC an BIG are not for that

Every other conference rejected the idea when the ACC asked in 2005. Why would they feel any differently now?

The latter: Cuse/Ville/Pitt/Irish

Historical: 2 Top 10 elite programs and 2 Top 25 programs

I'm not a fan of Bowlsby, he reminds me too much of Meatball.

The B12 can invite all they want...no one is coming at this point unless the SEC or B1G raids.

Which is what everyone is waiting on, and that depends on whether or not the ACC is able to make their exorbitant exit fee stick. We'll find that out after the Maryland case goes to court...

I don't think there are a lot of people who believe that the Big12 can pull from the ACC on their own. For that matter, most speculation about B1G and SEC raids also depend on the right combinations of teams being raided. For what it's worth, I think that the ACC is more stable now than many give it credit for, but I also won't be stunned if the excrement strikes the fan.

Every other conference has been denied a 10 team CCG.

The B12 is not special.

b10 would probably be annoyed by it as they've poached both acc/b12 already.
p12 a little less so I guess.

No, but time marches on, and with changing times can come changes in rules and votes. Having said that, I don't think it's likely, and furthermore I think that if the Big12 remains a 10-team league with a round-robin schedule, a CCG is superfluous.

RE: Dodd on ACC B12 thingy
The ACC and Big 12 both make about the same amount per year in TV revenue -- $19.8 million for the Big 12, $19.5 million for the ACC. (That is strictly TV revenue and does not include other payouts.)

Did the acc get a raise? ND?

This Dodd is a clown. He makes a TON of assumptions here that are more than questionable. I'm not going to bother to innumerate them.
