ESPN NCAAB - Big East commissioner Mike Aresco says his league wants to add 12th school, keep name as it rebrands

It's curious that ESPN would even report that since it's such common knowledge.

An Aresco by any other name apparantly doesn't smell as sweet

Tulsa will be 12th in all likely hood

When Cincy and UCONN leave do they add Marshall and Southern Miss? It'll be C-USA 2.0 all over again + Navy, USF & Temple.

Hopefully it will be a school like Tulsa who has proven itself on the field.........second choice will be USM who had a down year but had 17 straight winning season with wins against big programs.

The Big 12 isn't taking Cincy/UConn so it would take an expansion explosion to make Cincy/UConn leave the Big East. That would likely result in a merger of the 12 in the Big East with the 4 left behind from the old ACC.

That is at least what makes sense to me. I think the superconferences would really not effect CUSA and the Sun Belt that much once this 12th team is done

The ACC will take them once the Big 12 raids the ACC though, so it's pretty much the same thing.

My question is when will they want Tulsa? If Navy isn't coming until 2015 then will they wait until then to add Tulsa? If they don't then the nBE will have an odd number of teams until Navy does join. It may be the nBE will stay at 10 until 2015.

If ... *IF* ... the big 5 conferences will settle down we may see all this conference jumping come to a stop for a few years. It also looks like the Mountain West conference could be settling down into a MAC like stabilility since the nBE and probably CUSA have no interest in going further west than Texas.

Geez ... lots of "if's", "maybe's", "could's", "possibily's", and "I dunno's" when discussing conferences.

The ACC is set to have 14 schools with Maryland leaving and Pitt, Syracuse, and Louisville joining. Where are 10 schools going to get down to just 4?

This article, http://ajerseyguy.com/?p=4881, indicates that the nBE is marketing a TV football package of 11 teams for 2014. Since Navy is not scheduled to arrive until 2015, it implies that someone will be added for the 2014 season. If this is the case, the announcement would likely come before July 1st so the new team could give their current conference the standard amount of notice.
